  1. I agree, you got my point. And it does not help, that I run with methanol and at some point we are going to add some boost (now I'm running little under 2 bars of boost and my friend says that under 2 is not called boost.. :D) Also bikes might go with go quite long periode in small wheelie without problem, so I don't want to cut power too much. Ignition retard could work here just fine.

If front continues rising things can go bad wery quickly. Aerodynamics change (I have quite large bottom cowl with lotst of surface) and bike can flip over quite fast. There I need to cut power more agressively, but I still would like to remain boost, so when front is dropping, it might be possible to soften the landing a bit. Bike is 1720 from axle to axle and suspension travel in front is around 20mm. So landing will be hard..

Maby I am bit overthinking this, but sometimes foolish ideas lead to good modifications, when you develope them for a while..

So, would it be possible to use traction control like in my example to retard timing  in small wheelie and launch control 1 in launcing from starting line and launch control 2 to cut sylinders if front rises too much? Or how it would be wiser to set up?

I do not need traction control in normal use, since it is not allowed in our class.

  2. Hi !

If I would like to lose power very quickly for 1 of 2 reasons, would it be possible to use traction control.

For example if I go for wheelie ( have sensor under the bike) more than a 200mm or if MAP goes above 200 kPa (just for example) , ECU would retard or cut ignition.

I would like to gain same kind of effect that I have with launch control, I don't know if ignition retard will work fast enough, so cut may be needed, but I would not like to lose the boost when I do wheelie.

Or if boost rises up wery fast after lauch, and waste gate has problem to keep up, ECU would cut few sparks just to make boost build up little smooter.

    Just a tought... :)

  3. Hello!

I'm building a 360 LA-engine for my Ramcharger. Plan is to use it also in off-roading in the future, so I would like to get crank sensor in a safe place.

So, I am planning to weld 36-1 trigger wheel in shortened fuel pump drivewheel (in camshaft) and cut 1 tooth off 180 degree from missing tooth, and set it up as 18-1 missing tooth wheel.  This should work?

Problem is that there is no room for cam sensor (waterpump over camchain housing) , so is it possible to use knock sensor? I think this has been done, but I don't know if it has been done in inline engine or V8...

    Oh.. Smartcoil on every cylinder.

  4. Hello everyone!

About 3 years ago I started to ask silly questions here as a total newbie..

Last weekend I took a first 1/4 mile pull with the bike.

Bike is totally newly build in 3 years and mostly done in my garage by me. Still I have had lots of help from here and from many other people and want to thank you all. Along the way I learned lots of new skills needed in building bike like this.

Still shitload of things to do, but my god how satisfying it felt to feel that "turbopush" hit in third gear after staying off the track for 3 years!

Best time was 8.71 @277 , but we had only 3 good runs, so there is still lot to give!

You can find more here, if interested:

  5. Hello!

Has anyone found a way to control Turbosmart electronic wastegate via Fuel Tech power driver?

This time in Vipec i88, but also future in 4G+ .

I would need control in 3D map RPM versus gear like it would be in normal solenoid controlled system, but electric wastegate works more like a electric throttle. So some kind of closed loop control would be needed?

  6. And that solved it...

I used the wrong CAN module. Sometimes I feel bit stupid, but I don't care. :D

Dyno on sunday, now everything seems to be ready for that.

    Thanks Adam! Again.  :)

  7. No, it wasn't, I added it afterwards, when it didn't work and I did try to figure out what to do. Confused between channel and stream. But same was in stream 1.

Setup parameters were just like that, live is ok in all 4 thermocouples.

    image.png.968250c4740e15b507126b4e2bc665ac.png

I checked the wiring again also. +12 and ground are obviously OK , CAN2 H (grey/purple) and L (grey/white) are rounded with each other, CAN bus end resistor OK, connection to EcuMaster with short wiring to correct terminals OK. Is this the correct CAN BUS ? CAN 2? F*ck....  I'll get back later... :-)

  8.

EGT should be shown in CAN TC Cyl 1...4?

I also configured cyl 5..8 for just in case, but no result. Turned ECU off and on. 12 V and ground in Ecu Master EGT is OK

Tryed also give a little heat to thermocouple, no result.

I did load the .lcs file. Should it be shown in this window?

    image.png.c6a757d99c623dd8ec6a2666aaed172c.png

If I try to load it again it gives me this.

Can I check somehow, if the problem is the connection, or the device

I think they are commonly referred to as "R8 coils", there's a couple of revisions and I believe the later one is preferable, I dont have any part numbers though.  We dont really see them down here in NZ but they are a popular choice in Europe.

Attached below is a CAN stream file to aid setup.  First setup the CAN mode tab like my pic below, then go to the Streams tab, highlight stream1 and click on "load stream", then browse for this .lcs file attached here.

    Microtech EGT Use ID24.lcs

Does it work also with EcuMaster EGT?

    I have this product

I was finally able to run the engine and we are going to the dyno in 16th day.

  10. dc4picco, I tried to use Aux 7 as a GP output, and there was no option "DI2 status" in list.

I used Starter Control function, as Adam advised. I tried it earlier, but I didn't configure DI2 as start position. Now it works. DI 7 (engine run) I configured as Antiteft , so it works also.

  11. Hi!

I try to control starter solenoid with AUX 7. DI 2 and DI 7 are switches. In "SW Cond 1 " only DI2 I find, is speed below and speed above. Same in DI 7. And they are not working way I want? So, is there better way set this up? DI2 = active + DI 7 = active,  then Aux 7 is ON

  12. So, I f*cked up with the wiring. I was told order of cylinders incorrectly and I didn't check it..

So I wired 1 as 4 , 2 as 3, 3 as 2, and 4 as 1. Both Ignition  and injectors. I was able to switch them and got the engine running some how , but wiring looks like ... Well, you know.. :D

Smart coils and 8 injectors in hayabusa.

So is there a way to change cylinders in program? If I fix just firing order, does it fix the problem also  with the injectors? Anything I need to take account?

I was not able to test this, because drive gear of oil pump got broken and I lost the oil pressure and need to change that first.

Yes, they are fussy if connected to a circuit that has significant inductive noise (large voltage spikes).  If they are wired as per the two options in the quick start guide they work fine, just very few people seem to read the manual.

    So true.

Spanked my self (mentally) , fixed the wiring and got it working. Thank you! :-)

  14. Still I haven't been able  to find answer for this. Or actually have find two different answers..

Mostly common way seems that both grounds are connected to power side ground (cylinderhead) ,

    Coil_short_VAG.JPG?fbclid=IwAR1k-k1Jx1Gf

but some think it is better to use singnal ground in pin 1.

Coils are VAG Short ones (0986221023 ), there are two different types of connectors used in VAG coils.
