  1. Thanks mate! Have to start to check out why the camshaft doesn’t move fully.
  2. Yeah I did that cam angle test-calibrate initially to get the correct angles on the cams to have the VVT to working, before this it gave heaps of errors in VVT runtime values. I don’t think cam angle test runs the cams at all it just checks the initial positions of the trigger edges of the cams on relaxed position. I know the cam angle is shown in realtime values as crankshaft degrees, but I’d like to have confirmation if the actual Inlet/Exhaust position in datalogs is shown in crankshaft degrees. (Inlet bank1 position, exhaust bank1 position)
  3. Hello! Got my FuryX running and retired my Vipec V88 this week. Everything went smooth, just been adjusting fuel map on the streets. I read the help file a lot cause I have a little confusion about the Vanos. Intake cam reaches maximum ~29degrees on the logs, my request is way more (46). Is the vvt angles shown in the logs in cam degrees or crank degrees? My M54B30 has max 60 crank degrees of movement on camshafts. That ~29 is just half of that, so I need confirmation that the cam stops moving because of mechanical limits. Vanos has been rebuild, cams are schrick cams. From the logs I could tell that the system is trying to drive the vanos solenoid still with full DC when moving stops on that ~29.
  4. I just got my new FuryX this week and been playing with it on bench. I have Vipec V88 that I’m going to retire from the car and I’ve been copying the main settings. First thing I did was the firmware update. Everything went smoothly except the ”Not responding” on firmware updater window before the green bar started to move. But when I had been copying settings for couple of hours, did the store and powercycle, the G4X software gave some funny notification after powercycle and the ecu didn’t come back online. Did the powercycle again and restarted the software. For some reason I went to firmware upgrader to see what that one says and got the attached message Is this a bug or should I be worried? Otherwise everything is working at least on the bench. Can’t test it on the car until I have time to do few wiring changes because V88 and FuryX are not directly with same pinout. I was going to purchase the XtremeX that would have been 100% match on wiring but there was longer delivery time. gonna copy Vanos and ignition tables and all the sensor calibrations from the Vipec and I also copied the VE tables to have some kind of starting point for the tune. Edit: That message in the Firmware updater stays there always, no matter how many times I do the store or powercycle
  5. Sorry for bumping up an old thread, but seems to be related. I´ve been playing little mind games about which engine I´m going to bump in my old BMW. At the moment I have turbocharged M60B40 (non vanos, nothing special) with Vi-pec V88, and all the parts I need to assemble it and get the car running, but it has taken so long time due to the fact that all days go in the work, and not in the garage . So now the turbocharged M60 is nothing new anymore. Every now and then there is for sale S65B40 engines with manual transmissions, and I was wondering that will the V88 support the Vanos in S65 or not? Did you come to any conclusion if the S85 vanos supported in V88 works in S65? Of course there is a lot more in those new S engines to manage than just the cams, ignition and fueling. If I´ve understood correctly the oil sump system for example needs some management depending on which side you are cornering to scavenge the oil from right side of the engine and probably the cooling system isn´t standard. But those shouldn´t be big problems to solve, I can always use some other devices to manage those. So if the V88 supports S65 Vanos I might even think of getting my hands on S65. I don´t wanna change the engine management system to something else... Of course I would be out of my mind if I throw away all the work done with the M60 so far, but hey, whatever turns up the motivation to spend all nights in garage is always reasonable...
  6. Sounds like a very frustrating problem. It´s a little bit stupid question, but after you discovered the kink at the fuel line and the blocked filter, did you put your tune back to the state where it was before the problems started and you are not flooding the engine with huge amount of fuel?
  7. Hi Janne! Allright. I´m not actually sure did we use last year your computer or my computer for the FW update, I remember that we tested the connection in your workshop but it has been so long time (and too many beers and whiskys ) But I´ll e-mail you if I can´t get it working Thanks -Tomi
  8. Hi! I have a similar problem with firmware update to my V88. I have currently firmware 4.8.1 and I´m trying to update to the latest firmware. Connection to VTS works fine. I tried with com1 and com2 but the firmware updater can´t locate ecu. Any ideas? I tried several times with different com ports and waited for couple of minutes that the program finds the ecu but it didn´t. I used the vipec usb-cable. In 2011 I used the same laptop for firmware update, but of course there is still a possibility that this is a computer related issue. I´ll try it with other computer some day. Of course my Vi-pec worked perfectly last year in my other car, but I would like to update the firmware to latest before starting base mapping now in new car and different engine. Br. Tomi
