  1. Probably doesn’t help but I have vipec v44 working with CAN streams to a plex usdm 102 and a heap of outputs working already. Have you purchased the chrono already.  The plex product is very flexible, end less options

Also don’t forget some of the number so out of the v44 need an offset so I think the temperature ones are off by 50deg. The VTS help file tells you the offsets. So if oil temp is 100deg the packet will say 150deg because of the -50 offset

  2. This is how mine is setup on evo 8 using evo 9 PNP v44.

note , read the VTS help file on each sector before making any changes and double check / triple check everything.

I’ve got an innovate wideband which has native 1v narrow and 5v wide signal. Connect the wide 5v to your next free analog input and you’re almost done.

if you aren’t using an innovate controller then find out the calibration table or values and you can set your own calibration table.

once you have wideband input working and the displayed value in tve VTS is correct then you can look up the wideband 02 feedback modes if you want to use it. You don’t have to but it will save fuel and make the engine more efficient (less waste).

Mine is set to complete closed loop which means the vipec actively watches the wideband af/r in real time and actively reduces fuel to reach 14.7or whatever targets you dial into the “AFR target” table.

as you drive along you can actively see the vipec trimming fuel on light cruise and it will always hit 14.7 very quickly.

See this video at 2 minute mark to see the v44 actively trim fuel in real time. AFR vs AFR target

  3. If you have wideband don’t bother feeding it a narrow 1v signal , you can simply change the analog input type on the ECU to be a 5v input and feed it the range table for your wideband and it will use the full wideband range.

Then you can if you want run full closed loop or open loop. I’ve got mine setup on full closed loop from an innovate wideband and the ecu will adjust the fuel in real time to obtain 14.7 (or whatever target you set).

  4. Try just 1 channel at a time and get that working then try all channels. I.e just do one of the water temps and see what the value is. From memory the v44 has a temp offset of -50 so any value in the CAN packet is offset by 50deg. Can you do “math channels” on your dash to -50 from the value ?

  5. Got the car back and very happy with the setup now. I went from Eboost2 to using the onboard vipec boost control but re-used the turbosmart boost solenoid. I did all the initial settings including setting the targets and setting all the baseline values then provided a brief outline of the setup for the workshop so they knew the basic car setup and had info on what i had pre-tuned. They then did the tune on the dyno and adjusted the values I dialed in to suit the car. I did the guess work then they've adjusted based on what the car needed. This saved a complete "tune" of the tune and a more focused tune adjustment of the boost control.

The setup looks like it has made more power but its shifted the power band considerably which I would suggest is due to the better setup and adjustment of the solenoid compared to the eboost2 fixed duty cycle (one value for all points).

Haven't driven it hard on the street yet but the dyno sheet certainly shows a very strong and responsive setup.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help with the boost control setup

  6. Car going to tuners soon to setup onboard boost control using the turbo smart Eboost solenoid. Will do initial open loop setup then switch to closed loop. 18psi spring with HKS 7460 on evo 8, 2.3L.

Reasonable to set the open loop to say 20psi then when that is stable do closed loop and target 26psi? Is the difference between initial open and final closed an issue?

  7. I don’t see why the v44 won’t do proper flex fuel. It’s just using the ethanol % as an input and doing a 3D map based on that or other corrections. Someone else could chime in but I’m sure it would work and it sure it’s been done on v44. I’ve got a v44 on 8 MR FQ and keen to see how you with flex setup
