  1. Thanks dave, I'm waiting on a reply from KMS but if it can show me the main 15 or so that I'm interested in then that's ok. The display at it's price point the product design make the KMS display attractive for customers. Can you please let me know the process to upgrade my v44 to the 10,000 CAN-BUS fix and I'll also need to order the relevant bus cables. After that I'll order a KMS unit and play around Thanks
  2. Thanks again but I think im looking at this the wrong way. The thread originally started because someone wants to use KMS display on Vipec V series. The vendor says its not supported and have to upgrade to i series. Is the reason the upgrade is required is so that the customer can choose "KMS display" in the CAN-BUS setup screen and all the CAN ID's etc are pre-populated and in turn the vipec starts sending out CAN packets destined to the KMS CAN-IDs. If so, then in theory it would work on the V series but the customer would have to load all the CAN IDs manually and fill in the sensors etc. Is my understanding correct? If so, ill go buy one tomorrow and do it myself and program all the IDs into the vipec CAN-BUS configuration screen (via VTS). Of course, i Still need the 10,000 serial fix to be applied and the CANBUS cables etc.
  3. Reading the start of this thread it talks about DBC files etc. why can't I just put the KMS displays CANID in the vipec settings as the transmit to ID and then pick my sensors to send?
  4. hi again, did some more reading and looking around and yeah, in the VTS sofware it looks like i can simply add whatever parameters i like on the CANBUS config and it transmits them accordingly.
  5. What I mean is, if I add another sensor later on via another DI input can I simply tick the extra box to make it send that parameter (assuming the KMS will pick it up)? i.e adding an EGT sensor later on
  6. Thanks for the detailed response. Am I able to modify what parameters are sent or is it hard coded?
  7. Hi, Can you please confirm a few things please before i embark on this journey. I plan to purchase ->http://shop.rpw.com.au/online-store/products-by-vehicle-manufacturer-2/mitsubishi/mitsubishi-lancer-awd-turbo/mitsubishi-evolution-lancer-turbo-evo-4-6/efi-products-6/link-g4-plug-in-mitsubishi-evo-4-8-and-gsr-detail.html Is that the correct model with CAN-BUS enabledIs the physical plug on the ECU identical to the existing V44 topboard plug or do i have to "guess" whats changed on the wiring loom / plug side. I.e. Can I safely unplug v44 topboard, plug in G4 plug in and its safe to key on after loading my tune and checking basic sensors or have there been pinout changes on the Link G4 vs the V44 topboard ? i.e. I am using various existing DI's - do these matter? Can I directly load my existing V44 topboard tune file onto this ECU model? Will the KMS display unit work with this model, without having to send it away or any other "upgrades"What parameters from my logging are sent via CAN-BUS to the KMS Display unit? How do I configure which parameters are sent? Is it in the software ie, VTS or does the CAN-BUS just broadcast every loggable parameter and the KMS unit will pick up whatever it finds and display it?Does this version of Link re-use the existing factory OEM knock sensor Thanks for your help
  8. Thanks david. There's absolutely no way to make the KMS can unit work on my existing v44 top board? Happy to pay for labour to make it work.
  9. ok are you sure? as I can open VTS and "load" my v44 tune file and hit save? the pinouts and plugs are identical? ie it wont shoot sparks if i unplug v44 topboard and then plug in G4 plugin ?
  10. Hi support, i had a look on the official vipec site and theres no mention of i44 or i88 plugin to suit Evo lancer. I can see plugin v44 to suit Evo but no mention of i44 or i88 plugin to suit Evo. So it looks like id have to go for i44 standalone and then boomslang from my current evo car loom to mate to the standalone i44 unit Is my understanding correct?
  11. Thanks but don't want to change the ECU version etc and want to be able to move directly to i44 version. Does the same min 10,000 serial number issue apply for the KMS display unit? I.e. Find an i44 vipec over 10,000 in serial # then I can use KMS DISPLAY out of the box directly. Also does i44 have native knock support, i.e. From the OEM knock sensor without the seperate knock block?
  12. ok thanks for the detailed info and prompt reply. can i send in my v44 and it be upgraded or swapped (plus cost) to an I88 model? otherwise i'd have to sell my v44 and buy an I88 and then copy the tune across etc. i also want to get digital knock input but cannot locate any digital knock block so i think the i88 includes knock input of the box of the OEM factory knock sensor, is this correct?
  13. Thanks. Serial is definitely under 10,000. Can I do the upgrade myself (ie firmware) or do I have to send it in? Anywhere in AU that can do it? Once upgraded can I use that KMS display?
  14. hi, i have V series V44 topboard to suit EVO 8 and also looking for a half decent CAN BUS DIsplay unit other than the $2k units. can I use either of these on my V44 ? https://www.cantronik.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Datasheet-CANvu-260-261-Display.pdf http://www.risse-motorsport.de/product_info.php/language/en/info/p2981_KMS-CAN-Display-fuer-die-Anzeige-saemtlicher-Daten-der-KMS-Motor-Steuergeraete.html http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/toucan-3479.html http://proefi.com/info/product-list/proefi-can-display/ looking for your recommendation on a display unit to suit V44 CAN-BUS please
  15. my Evo 8 MR FQ340 running 2.3L stroker kit with forged internals etc Vipec V44 topboard with logging, gearjudge and launch control setup. Deseperately want knock sensor input and would love to purchase a digital knock interface if I can find one. I'm an ex-Apexi PFC user and hobbyist and keen to experiment more with the vipec (need wb02 and knock input).
  16. thanks for the reply, so basically a 3d idle map, will see what i can work out
  17. would a combination of adjustment of solenoid duty %, increase in idle rpm and adjustment of IGN timing ramp for idle help correct/curb this?
  18. thanks, you are right, i could simplify the table but thats how it was tuned and given to me from previous owner / tuner. the data in colours and with blue boxes is an ms excel dump of the logs and then using the MS excel "colour bars" function
  19. i thought about this some more and do i need to do a combination of stepper motor % increase, adjust RPM to be a bit higher and adjust IGN timing error table to compensate?
  20. This is where i think its getting into trouble, marked in blue
  21. hi team, looking for some help on my evo 8. car stalls or nearly stalls on hot start but usually recovers ok, just annoying "rev drop" that id like to try and tune out. ive had a go at logging and trying to adjust the idle table as per below in red highlight to increase timing here in an effort to reducen the variance across the table when warm, but it still seems to almost stall. can you suggest what im doing wrong or how to reducen the stall zone ? logs are here; http://www.paulr33.com/evo/stall.zip
  22. hi team, evo 8 with v44 topboard PNP and im still keen to get knock input working. I've found someone selling the knockblock to suit link, is this compatible with my ecu? What else is required other than this box to get working knock input? I assume a seperate knock sensor or can I use the OEM 4G63 one already on the car?
  23. fair feedback and taken on board, all good and started using the software some more now. worked out how to adjust log level sampling as mine was way too low for the onboard logs (was 1hz) so will bump this up to get more samples / per second. updated to latest firmware and all good, no issues. also note that im using the internal logs and log playback so maybe thats why my view of logging was a bit different. i havent actually done on-road laptop logging as i felt i didnt need to with the onboard internal logging, but didnt realise the different sampling rates (mine was low, 1 per second)
