  1. That's great, I am downloading the software to have a fiddle with it, although I am no mapper I will want to install and wire it myself. Funnily enough I too want torque reduction, in third gear in my case If I like the final build I will sort a stronger transmission, but KISS is the goal initially. Thanks for the replies.
  2. G4 although I have not purchased anything yet. I am a lot more familiar with Motec, but was impressed by the ease of use of the software and the nicely running engine of an elderly Link ECU in a single turbo Supra MKIV, so have decided to give on a shot.I may need to reduce boost (torque) in some gears on a car with known fragile half shafts. Thanks for the reply.
  3. Is it possible to get gear position info into an ECU from crank RPM versus output shaft / propshaft / wheel speed RPM? I realise it could only extrapolate this when the vehicle was moving. Thanks.
  4. I will need a Hall effect cam position sensor that will run, pick up side, in a hot engine oil environment and has provision to seal into or against a flat plate. I have used Bosch 0 232 103 022 sensors in the past, but these have been in fresh air. I am not sure whether they would like or even tolerate a hot, wet oily environment. I work on lots of 2JZ-GTE Supra twin turbo engines and these have 2 cam position sensors that pick up off pegs cast into the intake cam, and run bathed in hot oil on the engine side, within the cam box of the head. I think they are magnetic, not Hall effect though, and are rather big. They are also very expensive, new. Has anyone any ideas for a Hall sensor that is happy with half of itself in hot oil, can be sealed to a flat surface, and is reasonably priced and easily sourced? Ford TDCi ones seem to look as if they are designed to run in oil, and are cheap. Are they Hall effect though? Connector plug and pin availability is also a thought! Thanks.
  5. Thank you Simon, car arrived this afternoon, I have just downloaded the map from the ECU to my laptop, I'll have a look through it tonight. Obviously, in the end it wasn't locked, I was going to get the customer to send just the map, but he decided to bring the vehicle itself. Am I right in thinking there's no direct input to a G3 for a wideband and it needs an interface box?
  6. I am a race car engineer in the UK and my experience is mainly with Motec, Syvecs and GEMS ecu's and logging. I have a customer road car coming in, apparently with a G3 fitted. It was fitted and mapped by person or persons unknown, is there any danger I may find it password protected? Will the software quickly show if it has a wideband O2 sensor or a narrow band? Will the G3 data log?   Many thanks!
