Hello everybody, Since I have not finished yet my DIY "detonation listening device" I made a few runs using only the engine knock sensors and very conservative tuning, trying to spot knock signal waves on the logs. To my surprise I found a few spots that look a little suspicious which I would love to hear your opinion about. It's hard to believe that this might be real knock considering the crazy rich AFR and the low timing but still I would bring these to your attention. My engine is a M50TUB25 with about 9.5:1 compression and a smallish turbo. Problem 1: There's a small spike on cyl2 knock level. It settles back and then rises again along with the boost pressure. Might this be knock, or knock should be an even bigger spike compared to the previous average noise? Problem 2: The cylinder 2 noise seems to raise pretty suddenly but the cylinder 6 even more so. I think that cylinder 6 might be caused however by the RPM cut which happens at the exact same time but I am not quite sure which happened first. I also attached the base map and the log file. The first problem is in the SOL section, the second one in the rpm cut section, timestamps should match the attached screenshots. Thank you very much for you help!   2. Hello everybody,, I have a Link E36 plugin ECU controlling a turbo M50TUB25 E36 BMW. I am almost done with the fuel tables and moving onto ignition tuning so I have some questions regarding the specific configuration of the knock control for this engine. I saw that the help files recommend some frequency settings for certain engines, but no recommendation for the M50 engine. So first question is, could someone tell me what type of knock sensor should be selected, what frequency and eventually the rest of the knock control settings? In case I can't find an answer to the previous question I plan to also listen for engine knock, so I also search for advice on this one. My plan is to build a simple audio frequency preamplifier/amplifier and listen with headphones. The problem is that I would like to keep the ECU connected in parallel to my audio amplifier, so I need to know what should be the input impedance of the amplifier in order to not affect the input to the ECU too much. My guess is that something like 100kohm should be fine, am I correct? This is a question to which I hope I can get an answer from the Link ECU hardware engineers, for which I thank them in advance!     Two questions

    Hello Guys, i have a evo 8 with thunder ecu, bosch wideband knock sensor, gsc s2 cams, stock evo injector i attached map and log. i have two questions: 1) around 6700 rpm injector duty cycle going from 97% to 128% and afr goes very lean...why? 2) the knock level of cyl3 goes very high (i try to remove 2* but same situation)..why cyl3 is so different from others? i noticed that knock sensor is so close to cyl3...this can create that difference in knock level from cyl3 and others? thanks for support guys ss2.pclr ss2.llg

    Knock and IAT

    Hi... Please could someone advise on a Det query on Impreza STI? I spent a lot of time setting up knock control (frequency analysis, det cans, inducing controlled knock etc...) and got a really responsive setup and running completely knock free. This was in the summer months when it was 20 degrees C. Now it's colder (freezing), on occasion, the system detects a single knock event around maximum torque (5500 rpm, 240 kpa, see attached). Would you use the IAT Ign Trim table to resolve this? It's currently set to remove timing at high IAT only (see attached). Thanks
  6. Hey guys I've just been searching on this and can't seem to find my answer... I have been road tuning with my KnockBlock G4+ unit, which is great, but I just noticed that the KnockBlock tech specs say that I can use the output for knock sensor freq output in PCLink which would make life so much easier given that I also have a KnockLink hooked up that I watch very closely The ECU I am using on this particular car is a Monsoon, which appears to have a 0-5V analogue input available for knock but I can't seem to find any data on what the audio output from the KnockBlock is... or whether I can in fact just wire a 3.5mm audio jack from the output straight into the ECU?     Subaru knock problem

    Hi there after finishing with my tuning with the base maps etc i have tried to fix the knock table. the problem that i am facing is that i am puting my nmbers in the kno ck table and is retarding where i have bigger numbers. i have the log files if anyone can understand why is happening. i am also attaching my map file that i run now on the car I'll be great full if anyone can help me Log 2018-05-8 9;31;12 pm.llg TED WITH KNOCK 08052018.pclr
  8. Hi - please could I have some guidence on knock control with motorsport options... (would you ever use both together?) I have setup knock control, which I have verified works perfectly. I also have Launch Control and can see from "Knk System Status" copied here: 0 = Active 1 = Lockout - RPM Low 2 = Lockout - RPM High 3 = Lockout - TP Low 4 = Lockout - TP Delta 5 = Lockout < 500 RPM 6 = Err: DI Feedback 7 = Startup Lockout 8 = OFF 9 = OFF: DI5 Pullup. 10 = Lockout - Launch Control that knock control is disabled during Launch, which makes sense due to the increased sound levels that would otherwise cause false knock detection. But what about Flat Foot Shifting, would you not want knock control disabled for the duration of this? And finally, although setup quite conservatively, Anti Lag. I set this up thinking that it would be beneficial for short sprints and hill climbs (no more than 1 mile!). It's currently setup to reduce lag, rather than create lots of low down power. Any tips welcome, I'm no expert! Thanks
  9. Hi, please could I have some assistance with interpreting the log file extract shown below (I tried to attach the actual log file but it exceeded max file size). I don't understand why the knock count didn't increment when the knock level exceeded the knock threshold.
  10. Hi all, I have a distinct lag between my knock threshold Log and my knock target table trace. First thought was the ECU was running a different map when the log was completed however this isn't the case. Anyone else having the same issue? Regards, Matt
  11. Hello, I have a car which I take care of and it's a sports car, rallycross supercar. It has 2.0 cosworth engine and it can make 600 hp. Now I've tuned it for 500 hp. Because I don't have an electronic knock detection. I used a simple old school det cans, which is good, very good to listen knock, but i made a safe ignition tune, I didn't wanted to take a big risk. Now the team decided that we should take a max power from the engine and also to have a good logging option. So I'm looking for external knock amplifier for v44. Does anybody has a clue if this product could work with v44? (http://www.phormula.com/KnockMonitor-KS-4.aspx) Also, maybe someone has a wiring diagram how to wire external knock control? Would be really appreciated. PS. Adam, on the last my post You helped me with staged injection, Your knowledge helped me a lot. Thanks. Now engine is running much smoother.
