llabmik2
I have noticed on a couple MINI's that I have tuned including my own the tach is accurate at the lower RPM's but when it gets to about 3500+ it start to get inaccurate. This has shown with the use of LC and the motor rev limiter. I have my LC set at 5000rpm the ViPEC reads 4900 to 5050rpm or so while on the 2-step with the computer hooked to it, but the tach is only reading 4K. Then the final rev limiter the tach says that im at 7000ish but I'm tagging the limiter at 8200, the ViPEC is also stating the same, that I am really at 8100-8200. Any help with this would be appreciated. Shanne
Dave Kriedeman
Is the tacho reading correctly on your laptop and in the dash when Launch control is not active.
llabmik2
No. its wrong no matter what. Its wrong even if the LC is off or hasn't been used since the car has been started. The main rev limiter is still kicking in at 8200, showing this on the laptop, but the gauge itself is showing a tad over 7K
Dave Kriedeman
OK, tacho is out of range all of the time. I have never done a Mini and i am not familiar with their setup. Does the engine use hall effect or magnetic reluctor crank trigger.
Mendra72
Having checked my car - I can confirm the tach is off by ~ 200 -300 rpm even @ 3000 rpm - compared with the readout on the ViPEC software.
