Problems with USBLink

Hi all. I'm a satisfied owner of PossumLink but i have a problem. This is the normal procedure with the usblink unplugged. First klick: the lights turn on -> Second klick: the fuel pump starts -> Third klick: engine starts. With the usblink connected. First klick: the lights turn on -> Second klick: the fuel pump starts after 5 seconds -> Third klick: engine starts. With the usblink and laptop connected. First klick: the lights turn on -> Second klick: the fuel pump is dead! -> Third klick: engine starts and the fuelpump start buzzing. The engine want runs properly and stops after some second. I can always read/write to the ECU with no problems, but still the engine wont run as i should. The laptop is an old one with WinXP Pro and the usblink drivers from the CD. I've notice that some adaptors have both usb and serial ports. My adaptor does only have usb, so i cant make a test with the serial port. I dont know if this is something unusual or something wrong/bug, but it works perfect as long as i dont start the engine.

It is possible that there is a fault with your USBLink.  The USBLink takes its power from the ECU.  If there is something causing the power supply to get dragged down, the ECU will be getting a low voltage and doing all sorts of unusual things.  Why it chages when the laptop is plugged in, I dont know.  I am also unsure of what you mean by "klicks".  But no matter what, the behaviour of the ECU should not change when the USBLink or laptop is plugged in.  In may just be that the ribbon cable is damaged or faulty.  The box you see with a serial port and USB is a ComLink.  USBLink and ComLink are no longer in production.  SerialLinks can still be purchased if you laptop has a serial port.  They are pretty bulletproof...
