Ben Wilson
Hi,   I’m currently wiring a G4+ Atom to a Subaru EJ203 (03 BL5 Legacy). I’ve looked through the installation manual & this forum but haven’t been able to find an answer. The original wasted spark ignition coil (P/N: 22433AA500 / Diamond FH0286) is a 4 post/dual coil assembly & seems similar to the Linkplus drawing I21 (http://www.linkecu.com/support/documentation/technical-drawings/I21%20Subaru%20EJ%20V5%20V6%20Wasted%20Spark%20Ignition) however none of the 4 input plug pins behave like a low resistance primary ignition coil - all measure high resistance & exhibit diode properties (1 current flow direction) when tested. Does this mean that the ignition ignitor is built into the coil assembly? Kind regards Ben
Brad Burnett
that coil is going to require an external ignitor.
Simon
There are Subaru coils that have an inbuilt igniter. If you measure between the 12V supply and the signal wires and you see a high resistance then it will have an inbuilt igniter.
