Nigel.
Hi I'm wondering if someone can tell me anything about when the VVTI is activated on an RB25DET. Is it as simple as two RPM points or does it need information from the MAP sensor etc. to activate it. Thanks, Nigel.
ashesman
If it is a fully continuous VVTi motor like a NEO motor then it will need special control. If it is an older engine then it is just switched. Best way to set it up is on a dyno, then it can be optimised to your other mods. Do a run with the cam retarded, then one with it advanced, the switchover point required will be quite clear... Usually they are RPM switched, but sometimes people add other parameters. I imagine the factory do quite clever control, but in practice switching off just RPM is usually adequate... jim bennett
I have a rb25det installed in s13 using a LINK G2.At 1100 rpm I turn the cam solenoid on at 5700 it turns off.I have no dyno sheets to show but seat of the pants is very noticeable.Check out www.gtr.co.nz they have dyno sheets to show their research.
