Guest |202|
Hey gang, What seems like it should be a relatively straight forward process just doesn't seem to work. I am connected I have key-on I run the Firmware update script I see it searching for ECU and then it always fails to find an ECU. To confirm the ECU is there I can then open the ViPEC tuning software and am online is seconds so I know my comm port and connections are good. I've cycled the power and nothing...fails to connect every time. Any clues?
rayhall
The firmware update software will not work if the Vipec USB driver is assigned to a COM port greater then COM 9. This is going to be fixed. You can overcome this by changing the port number. Here are the steps. 1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties. 2. Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager. 3. Open the Ports (COM & LPT) 4. Right click on the Vipec USB driver and select Properties. 5. Click the Ports Setting tab and then click the Advanced button. 6. Select a lower port number.

Guest |202|
Hi Ray, Switched to Comm Port 7 and the firmware uploaded fired off without a hitch. Thanks. One question though, I noticed in your version notes that speedo speed is now enabled but I don't see it anywhere in the new software? i would expect to see it presented similarly to tacho sweep...am I missing something? Thanks again for your help. Dan
rayhall
Dan, The Speedo Sweep settings are there for me, after I selected an auxiliary output as Speedo Out. For this to work, the ECU needs vehicle speed signal going to a digital input, and this selected as Speed. Then the selected Aux out is connected to the speedo. Guest |202|
Oh I'm sure it's there Ray, I just wasn't looking in the right place obviously. I'll check later this evening when I'm back on my tuning laptop. Thanks again.
