Jarrod Power
I have been told by two different sources, a tuner, whom I was unhappy with, and a respected subaru mechanic with around 20 year experience. My current boost control is through a bleed valve from compressor outlet to wastegate actuator. This was setup by the tuner. The EBC system worked fine until a change of turbo (vf12 (std rs turbo) to td05 (96wrx)), and a full changeover of aftermarket ignition coils. The link for RS Liberty 92- (RSROADQ). What can cause this? Is there a fix for it? I don't have a map downloaded of it at all. I can tell you the target boost read from a hand controller was 13.5 psi. (not my hand controller) Thanks in advance
ashesman
Did you attempt to retune the ECU's boost control after fitting the new turbo? What exactly was the problem with boost control after the turbo change?
Jarrod Power
I didn't attempt, the tuner did. There is no response from the boost controller at all. Aparantly nothing going to the solenoid at all. No response to tuning at all.
Jarrod Power
Does the Board on a Link ever become defective? I find it hard to beleive that it would suddenly stop sending a pulse all of a sudden.
ashesman
There is definitely a posibility that a fault is present. It is not common, especially on boost control, but a possibility. The way to check this is to use an oscilloscope or labscope of some description and check that the output is changing state at the duty cycle displayed for the boost control solenoid on PCLink (or tuning module). Unfortunately it is the only way to check that the drive is operating correctly. Best option is to send it to a Link dealer for testing if you are unsure. Jarrod Power
MM sounds expensive, don't like the sound of that! I use the car daily and have larger injectors than normal so I can't be without the car for too long. Who are the rgistered link dealers in QLD? ashesman
Hmmm, well unless you access to some test equipment then you may have no choice on that one! SuzySport would be worth giving a call. A good tuner should also be able to diagnose where the fault is. ashesman
Dont need a dyno to test for this fault, just aa scope meter like a snap-on vantage. A good autoelectrician or EFI specialist should havwe one. You need to know if the EBC is working before you try to have it tuned.
