Hi, this for the G4 Atom SN#11401. What if INJ#1 not pulsing at all during the test? INJ#2,#3 and #4 all pusing during test. Check the continuity all good. Swapped the injector to different cyl , it works fine.

It was working fine when first installed .FYI, the injectors are brand new ID1000 high impedance. Removed the resistor ballast when installed as it was using the Mitsubishi low impedance injectors previously.

Does this means the injector drivers #1 faulty? or is there any other way to confirm it?

Hi Rudy,

From your description it does sound like injector drive 1 has a problem. If you move an injector from another cylinder to the injector connector for cylinder 1 does it work? If not try the following:

  1. Go to ECU Settings > Fuel > Fuel Setup > Fuel Main and set the Injection Mode to OFF.
  2. Then do a store (F4 key) and turn the power off to the ECU, and then back on again.
  3. Disconnect the Injector 1 connector from any injector.
  4. Reconnect to the ECU with PCLink, go to ECU Settings > Aux Outputs - Inj and set Injector Drive 1 to Test(On).
  5. Get a test light, put the clip on a known good +12V (battery +) and then probe back from the injector plug to the ECU looking for where the ground is not present.

If you get all the way to the ECU and can not find ground then the ECU is likely faulty and will need to be returned to us for repair.

One other thing to check, make sure your firing order is correct in the ECU and you have no double ups.

Under Aux Outputs 1 not specific to Injector Drive 1. Please refer attachment.

Checked the firing order and it is correct (1342)

Hi Rudy,

Sorry,  I didn't notice that you had an Atom ECU. On the Atom you are not able to access ECU Settings > Aux Outputs - Inj as the injection drives are not able to be used for non-injection functions.

The only way for you to test the injector 1 output is to use the dedicated Injector Test function. The injector test function grounds the injector drive 10 times a second, each time it grounds the injector drive it does it for 2 ms. An incandescent bulb test light or multi-meter will probably not detect this occurring, you will need an LED test light or an oscilloscope. Alternatively you can listen to the injector and see if you can hear it ticking.

You can access the Injector Test function under ECU Settings > Fuel > Fuel Setup > Injector Test . Change Injector Test from OFF to 'Inj 1 (2ms 10Hz)'.

Hi Scott,

That's what I did in he first place. The injector test on INJ1, and I didn't hear any ticking as it does on INJ2, 3 & 4. Thus, I can concluded that INJ1 drive is indeed has gone bad.

What could possibly be the cause, as I have another Atom G4 and planning to transfer the map over from the faulty ecu? Worried it might harm it as well.

FYI, the ecu previously running a low impedance injectors, but changed recently to ID1000 high impedance injectors. Hence, the injector ballast is removed. During a Dyno session, the voltage has drop significantly(around 10v). Suspected the alternator is faulty. Then got the alternator fixed, installed it and the car started right away and so does the injector #1 not firing. Almost simultaneously as the car started but the alternator now is charging as it should be.

Depending on the age of the Atom it could be one of the early units that did have injector drives more prone to failure. But generally when the drives failed they wend to a short to ground causing the injector to be stuck on.

I would certainly confirm all the loom is 100%. Swapping over to the second ECU will be a big step to proving this.

Just make sure there is no short to 12V on that drive before connecting the replacement unit.
