Chris Wilson
Is it possible to get gear position info into an ECU from crank RPM versus output shaft / propshaft / wheel speed RPM? I realise it could only extrapolate this when the vehicle was moving. Thanks.
Scott
Yes, this is possible. The ECU compares the engine speed to the wheel speed and has a 'Gear Calibration' mode to help set this up. Is this for a G4 or G4+ ECU?
Chris Wilson
G4 although I have not purchased anything yet. I am a lot more familiar with Motec, but was impressed by the ease of use of the software and the nicely running engine of an elderly Link ECU in a single turbo Supra MKIV, so have decided to give on a shot.I may need to reduce boost (torque) in some gears on a car with known fragile half shafts. Thanks for the reply.
Dave Kriedeman
Hi Chris, this is definitely possible and in the Boost Control settings now. Also there are settings for gear position settings/setup under CHASSIS and BODY Gear Detection.RegardsDave. bsh
As Scott and Dave says, it is possible and works great. I had to use it on my Lancer Evo 2 to reduce tq to stop breaking my 4th gear...
Chris Wilson
That's great, I am downloading the software to have a fiddle with it, although I am no mapper I will want to install and wire it myself. Funnily enough I too want torque reduction, in third gear in my case If I like the final build I will sort a stronger transmission, but KISS is the goal initially. Thanks for the replies.
