Trigger 2 help

Hi - Im just sorting my triggers out for my v8 to run semi sequential injection with an Atom G4+ . I have a 60-2 crank trigger and mag pickup for trigger 1 . I am going to use a distributor on this engine and can use the 8 point reluctor ( modified ) for the cam sync . So my question is - If i want to set it up with " cam level " sync for faster starting do i grind 7 teeth of the reluctor leaving 1 . Or grind 1 off leaving 7 . Which is better ?  I understand i have to align both crank and cam  "gaps"  in the toothed wheels  to achieve  the quickest starting . At the moment the engine running group fire injectors so any advise to help with the change over would be great . Thanks - Ken

If you are going to be running multi-point group injection then there is no gain in attaching trigger 2, as the injection events are not timed for each cylinder. The odd numbered injectors and even numbered injector drives fire alternatively every 360 degrees. This is if you have the Injection rate set to 1 injection cycle.

Scott.

This topic has been discussed before . Simon has given examples of semi sequential injection and to me there seems to be benefits with regard to each injector drive firing at 90 crank degrees instead of the first 2 drives firing and then the next set 270 degrees after that . The fuel fired from the 2nd injector in the pair ( for a v8 ) has less time to condense on the port walls . Ive been told by simon in the past how to achieve this with an Atom G4+ on a v8 i just need a bit more info on the cam sync - trigger 2 - Thanks - Ken

Sorry got my crank degrees wrong  . With semi sequential each drive fires 180 degrees apart ( with the "off" cylinder being only 90 degrees out for paired sets ) .And yip with group injection each pair of drive ( 4 injectors for a v8)  being fired 360 degrees apart . Does this make sense ?

To do Cam level it needs to be a Hall or optical sensor so that you have a square wave output.

Only option with a reluctor will be Cam Pulse x1 this will give sequential but might take up to 2 turns of the crank to sync.
