Grant Baker
Hi Guys,If I need to get CAN H and CAN L from a plug in ECU, it seems I need to use the following:CAN PCB Cable http://dealers.linkecu.com/CANPCB_2 - This gets me from the ECU to a CAN port.CAN DASH Cable - http://dealers.linkecu.com/CANDASH_2 - This gets from CAN Port to bare wires. Are instructions included on which wires are CAN H / L?Or, is it possible to cut the CAN connector off the end of the CAN PCB cable and wire to that directly? If so, which wires are which? Thanks in advance.
Simon
The best set up is a CAN PCB cable to a CANF and then wire direct to this.If you were to cut the CANPCB short then the CAN H is White and the CAN L is Green
Grant Baker
Thanks. Used a CAN PCB cable and cut it... Works perfectly Thanks. Used a CAN PCB cable and cut it... Works perfectly
Godschylde777
Hello. So I have a question. I have an mxs strada and an evo8 g4+. I have the cables listed above. From the can dash cable, it says the ecu Rx is grey, and the ecu Tx is yellow. What wires does this go to on the can dash? I just have it matched up and also do I run the brown to the black from the ecu or do I run it to a grounding source?
Richard Hill
At the ECU end, white is can high or +, green is can low or -, connect these to the corresponding white CAN1+, and blue CAN1- at the dash end. HTH, Richard. Godschylde777
Adamw
That's really the wrong cable, it will still work (green & white connected as per Richards comment), just it will likely interrupt PC comms so you will only be able to have either the dash or the laptop connected but not both at the same time. Our general recommendation is CAN PCB and CANF plug as per below. Another option is if you cut the CANDASH cable so it is very short (<~200mm) it will also usually work ok. Godschylde777
Ok, so I ordered the cable as listed in the diagram below. The canpcb cable. Will I still have the interference you mentioned? Also does the brown get grounded or just leave it alone? And the yellow and grew are also left alone? Adamw
You will only have two wires soldered into the CANF plug as per the pic above, CAN H & CAN L. It will then not interrupt PC communication. Godschylde777
