WRX Link V5-6 OBD2 plug wiring

Recommended Posts

I just a bought a PnP Link G4+ ECU for my 1999 WRX. I have a question about OBD2 wiring.

Should I wire the OBD2 plug like this:

Or can I use just use the " CAN2/OBD" connector on the ECU board which has the "+14V" output? I just want to use an ELM327 bluetooth OBD2 reader on the port. Is the ECU able to power the device or have I completely misunderstood purpose of the +14V pin?

Thank you in advance.

Br,

Timo

You could do that and it will work.  The only thing to be aware of is normally the 12V supply to the OBD2 port is live all the time, whereas the "14V" pin you are looking at using actually turns on/off with ignition.  I dont see that being a problem if you are using as a dash or something - just you will need ignition on before your Elm will connect.

Thank you for the fast reply.

That's great. I was going to wire the +12 to a switched supply anyway since I'm going to leave OBD2 reader connected to the port.
