link g3 to g4 update with g4 look

Hi all

I have always used the g4 extreme software and i love it. I recently picked up a G3 plus for real cheap. I was wondering if I upgrade to the g4 firmware will my software and home page layout will look the same as the g4 extreme homepage? And will I be able to use the G4 maps?

Yes once upgraded you will use the same G4 tuning software. So you can retain your layouts.

The Maps can then also be use you will just have to make sure the IO configuration matches.

The G3-G4 firmware upgarde is a "paid for" option.  Basically you order the upgrade through a dealer, give them your ECU serial number and they will get an upgrade code from us.  You then use the G4 software and do a firmware update as normal, it will require you to enter the upgrade code at the beginning of the process.

The upgrade cost is about NZD$200 at this time.

You can but will have to run a ballast you will not gain any peak and hold settings as the hardware is not suitable to support it on the G3s.

Hi in the link G3 ecu pinout there are two input for load 1 and load 3 where is load 2 ? are these the same as An volt in g4? Im using my existing g4 map with a g3 ecu upgrade

I will get @Simon to confirm tomorrow as I have never done a G3 plus, only the smaller G3.  I suspect there is no "load 2", it was probably reserved for special plug-in applications.

Once upgraded the G3 dedicated load inputs become freely assignable analog inputs in the G4.  So the G3 analog inputs get "offset" by two.  Something like this:

On the Plus there are 3 load inputs which then become AN Volt 1-3 on G4 firmware.

Volt 1 becomes Volt 4 after upgrade

The Load 2 is between Di5 and Trig 1

So I have completed my g3 plus to g4 firmware upgrade. Two things  I notice are my sync timing is off 37* and I have to dump 20% more fuel to be in the same afr as my g4 ecu. Nothing has change for the engine and base map.  Is that normal?

The car was originally tuned with a g4 ecu then it got stolen from me. I had a g3 laying around so I decided to wire that in. Then I upgrade the g3 firmware then load my original g4 map in it.

So there should be no difference in that case if you are comparing a G4 to a G3 with G4 firmware running the same map.  All the important hardware is the same between the G3 & G4.
