  1. Thank you for your reply, now knowing the atom was a very basic ecu i probably would have gone for a bit better one with more an outputs but that was 6 odd years ago and just took it to a shop to get a link and get it running. Does the job tho so wont change it. I have a powertune digital dash and have noticed they have these can i/O extender. Will this work in the case of being able to view my pressure readings through the dash but not on the link? And im guessing i would just splice the can high and low wires into this and the dash? James
  2. Hi guys, I am installing sensors on my link g4+ atom and i have a few questions. My first one is that looking at picture i have attatched there are wires on my plug in truck that are in the spaces with no wires/or words. Does this make them unusable with my ecu or are they usable for something that isnt listed like a spare an? Which brings me to my second question is that i have a spare an volt 2 wire which is the only one left free am i able to splice my 2 sensors into that one wire or is there another place that i can use for one of them? Also i have the wires Dl 1 and Dl 2 avaliable what are these wires for? And my final question is adventually i will get an oil temp sensor to wire in where abouts would i wire that into also? Many thanks and happy to elaborate on parts if need be. James
  3. Thank you for your reply Adam, i took out as you advised and connected positive and negitive and to ecu and that powered it up and i got readings.. What would be the possible wires to look for if it is causing ignitor and wastespark to get hot and not registering with ecu? Cheers James
  4. Hi guys, woundering if anyone could help me have an rb20det in my mini truck has a link g4+ atom ecu, wastespark, megasquirt ignitor and powertune dash. I have had some problems of late regarding fueling but i have nearly solved this problem with my regulator and injectors needing cleaning but my next problem is the engine wont start at all or fuel fan and ignition relays wont click on I have tried plugging ecu in computer and comes up with "unable to connect to the ecu but usb connection is present. Please cyce the power to ecu" i have a blue led that comes on ecu so im pretty sure that it is getting power and swapped the relays still nothing except when i disconnect the ecu relay ground my fuel pump turns on, but now im noticing my ignitor on the outside is very hot to touch and also my coil pack is hot to touch, previously had spark before Also before i could spin the crank sensor to test the injectors and the fuel pump would turn on but now nothing like that seams all power is dead or is shorting out somewhere. Any help would be appreciated- havnt had any heating issues of coil packs or ignitors before. Cheers James
  5. Hi all, just another question about setting up powertune display, i have wired in the way above, power on ecu and link but doesnt seem to register. Where it says select ecu it just says "link Generic Dash" for any ecu that resembles a link? Also i have seen on a few other pages you have to connect it on pc link software, have followed the steps under cam setup but still no luck. Is there anything else that i could try that would maybe help? Cheers James
  6. Sweet thats good to know. Thought it should be ok but double check before i cut and splice. I have the link g4+ atom. Cheers James
  7. I recently brought a powertune dash to wire in with my atom, but i have noticed it has a small white 5pin connector and only uses 2 pins on that, but my ecu does not have that style pin on it anywhere(have opened up to see if it was inside). Could i cut the plug of and instal behind the main ecu connector instead or will i need to put them somewhere else? Have attatched a picture of plug and how my way i thought to do. Cheers James
  8. Hi guys, have rb20de+t currently in the test drive stage have taken it up the road and back but didnt hit boost just as i dont no if all settings are correct. Just asking if anyone has any pointers to look for so that it doesnt free boost or detonate or anything like that.? how do you change if possible the temp at which fan turns on? and what pressure should fuel reg be reading? And how to set boost controller? My mods are an unopened rb20de, gt45 turbo, v band wastegate, 555cc inj, fuel press reg, lift pump and 1000hp fuel pump, cam gears. Cheers James
  9. Sorry if that was unclear, minds thinking faster then can message haha. I have a laptop tablet but since i have no rpm gauge im wanting to wire one up and view on laptop. Do i take a feed of the crank sensor or something like that and put the feed into an aux output so i can get the rpm gauge to work or should it already be wired ? Hopefully that makes a bit better sence
  10. Many thanks for the help ended up working and could test. I have one more question, rb20det is in my 1988 ford courier, i have a tacho in it as factory but cant seam to wire it to engine, i decided to get a 2" tacho (this was before link ecu) but now i have a link i am woundering can i display it onto my pc and if so what wires could i splice and to what pin? Also could i hook a wire of that to read tacho for when i dont have pc. Cheers James
  11. Ok cool thanks so i could just wire the ecu directly to the sensors and not use the gauges?. And the water temp gauge is saying 120degrees so im thinking gauge might be broken. Have another question.. when i got my engine wired at auto electrician they wired up the fan to come on at a certain temp? Im pretty sure thats the usual way it works, correct me if im wrong. Is there a setting i can lower temp down to come straight on or even just an on button. Reason being just want to check that fan is all going so i know it will kick on at certain temp when set to. No sorry gtihk i dont no what linearization curve of the sensor is all new to this lol
  12. Hey guys have a link g4+ atom, i have aftermarket water and oil temp gauges and senders. Can i get the temps to show on my link display on laptop and also the gauges (splice the wires to the ecu and gauge?) Just as wanting to double check readings as my water seams to always say 120 degrees even at cold. If so what settings would i have to put on laptop to show them. Many thanks James

    Software to use

Managed to sort out grounding issue and got ute to start. My question is as soon as it fired up it reved right to limiter pretty much (dont have a tacho but pretty much sounded that way) i turned the tps either way to see if throttle was held open and still same issue. Would there be a setting i need to change to sort this out? Have attatched a pic of last reading noticing the tp main is at 52.6%. Cheers james

    Software to use

Sorry just read that have put this in wrong section. Hey guys new to the link ecu community. Had my link installed in my 88 ford courier running an rb20det. Took out engine and repainted and put back in, pluged all in to find its not going. I do notice a blue light comes on then flashes a few times and repeated. I have spark and fuel but guessing this could be why its not running. My question is what would this blue light mean and also i never got a cd to instal pc link software.am i able to download this to maybe view data on that and may have the problem Many thanks James
