  1. Did all of that and it didn't help sadly. Calibrated the throttle again too but no difference.

After that I took a look in the engine bay and saw that the idle stepper had turned in the adjustment screws. Turned it to standard (saw where the screws had been sitting) and all of a sudden the idle works :)

The screw sat really hard so I supposed some previous owner must have tried adjusting something there

    Now it is working.

    Thank for the help :D

  2. After lots of looking by me and my brother we noticed that AUX1 and AUX2 going to the idle stepper was set to off. Now it seems to work and have idle.

But now when I release throttle fast the idle dips down and the car almost stalls. Works better with the AC on and the idle doesn't dip down as low.

  3. Back again with another question. This time it is about cold starts.

I am running a ViPec V3 plugin in my 1997 STI. It has been tuned but since the car was warm I guess they didn´t adjust anything in the cold start idle.

The car starts fine but dies after a second as the idle becomes to low. I have checked and the settings in all idle tables are the same as in the files provided with the ecu. I have changed all vacuum and pressure lines but no one was damaged so no leaks.

When warm the idle is spot on at set rpm so I think the IACV is working properly. In the summer when it is over 20 degree celsius it starts and idles but cold start idle is about 4-500 rpm.

Feels like the car doesn´t realize it needs to run cold start settings when it is below engine working temperature.

The problem is there on ac too, not as bad but if I start the ac the idle drops 200 rpm.

Really scratching my head and can´t find anything wrong.

The idle valve should be open all the time, otherwise the engine would stall when you close the throttle.

Why are you worried about it being lean on decel, normally you would have the overrun fuel cut cutting all fuel on decel so that would be normal.

Not really worried, just not used to it being that lean on decel. I guess I will have to remove the screaming warning in the wideband gauge :)

    Thanks for the quick reply.

  5. So I have a problem. Last times I drove the car last year I had no ISC on it, had the stepper removed. Now that I have it connected again my wideband tells me it's really lean on deceleration.

The Speed Lockout is running on DI #1 Speed but it looks like it is still running the idle motor even when I am driving the car.

What am I missing here? Seems like there is a simple solution but I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong here.

The car is a 1997 Subaru Impreza STI V3 running a ViPec PnP.

  6. Hello all!

I want to be able to use a phone or tablet as a display in my car. The problem is that my 1997 STI has got no OBD port at all.

Is it possible to cut an OBD port from some other vehicle and connect it to CAN in my ViPec PnP?

Read about serial number and other things that might make it impossible to get an OBD. Not sure about what my serial is at the moment.

Is there any other way to get OBD or any other way to connect my Phone or tablet to the ViPec ecu?

  7. I have tried but couldn't get ignition strobe tester to work in that mode. Will try again today and see if it works any better.

Do I need to reset the Base timing all over again? Thinking as I couldn't get the timing strobe tester to work in that dip switch mode.

  8. Not running any idle control valve on the car because of space issues so setting idle with the stop screw on the throttle. But the issue seems to have something to do with triggers or trigger settings. Tried different values in trigger filtering and threshold.

  9. Sorry about the late reply. Have had so much to do.

Here is a copy of the map and a short log file.

What I have noticed is that the car isn't reading rpm correctly and getting errors for trigger counts. Running the correct trigger wheel for the engine and it ran fine with the old ecu.

Is it possible for the car to run with crank as cam and cam as crank? I have been switching those but it only ran as it is setup now.

  10. So I have got an Impreza STI V3 (1997) that I changed to a ViPec PnP ecu in. Having troubles getting it to run good. It misfires even though we have set base timing.

Running fk0140 coil on plug but set base timing using a lead from coil to spark plug.

Also having some trouble with tacho. When starting ignition i does the sweep but when the car is running the tacho sticks to 2000rpm and when looking in VTS Fuel Table1 and AFR Target also seem to stick to 2000rpm.

So anyone who has got a working base map and any ideas about the tacho error?
