  1. Thank you. Merry Xmas. Makes sense regarding PWM and mechanical relay. Is there a ‘professional” way to use pins 85 and 86 of the AC relay without 2 wires sticking out of top of relay box?
  2. I am showing Pin 48 on ECU = IGN 7 Air Conditioning Compressor (Aux) in Link manual. Assume that wire goes from ECU to fuse box/relay in a loom. The wire going to the actual compressor is after the relay which Vaughan is NOT recommending. So, the difficult part is finding a way to “scab” into this routing and redirect to the Mac Valve. I figured that all the people drifting the E36 would have an easy solution and I would not have to trial/error a solution. Like to know what everyone is doing and they know works well. Not really sure what Vaughan is recommending in using “any Aux 1-10” as they are all assigned (eg Idle Speed Control). Help me understand why I would not use the power after the relay. burn out the relay? The connector for the compressor is sitting right next to the location for the Mac valve and it appears that it has 12V power and a ground which I could control by “reassigning Pin 48/Ign 7” to the boost controller function in software.
  3. I need to add a boost controller for my turbo charged E36. Which wiring signal should I use for the boost controller? I have deleted the A/C. Should I use the compressor signal wiring? G4X- plug in ECU
  4. e36 plug in. running before no issue. rebuilt engine for turbo and started up new engine. cylinder 2 did not fire. misfire. rough idle. ran manual ignition test. Just plugged in my old ECU computer with RK tunes. cylinder 2 worked. so…… looks like the link ecu is bad. need replacement. triple checked wiring and coils. all coils fire except circuit for cylinder 2. plug to coil is getting correct voltage but, trigger circuit is not working. I can send pictures and/or video if needed. just ask for what you want to see.
  5. I have run manual ignition fire on all cylinders of 95 BMW M3 using link software. Ignition coil 2 will not fire. Swapped coils from cylinder 1 and 2. both coils work on cylinder 1. checked continuity from wiring harness to plug- good for all 3 wires. How do you know if ECM is sending trigger signal to coil? I have a voltage meter but, not an oscilloscope.
  6. DME relay died. Lack of blue light was a big clue. thank you. car starts and runs now.
  7. G4x plug in to a 1995 M3

    Crank, No start

Very strange. Replaced Clutch slave cylinder. Now the car will crank but not start. Can not connect to ECU with laptop either. Car ran fine before clutch work. We did not touch any wiring. Need help to troubleshoot. How do you know that the LINK ECU is getting power? We sprayed starter fluid in intake and it sputtered. I do not think that the computer is telling the injectors to fire. It is like when the EWS system is blocking start up but, the wire for EWS was cut a long time ago. Ideas?
  9. I tapped into the wire near shock tower. Harness is running down top of fender/hood line. I will try to post pictures.
  10. Not sure if a Aux7/Pin 11 wire exists in a manual car. I used the Ign8/Pin 36 Evap purge option. Works great. Wired the ground for the Evap Purge to the 12V coming from Aux Fan Relay. Configured in system. Love the test feature in software.
  11. E36 plug-in ECU. What is your suggestion? Does G4X plug in have a digital output/switch available? Help me understand the Digital input on expansion loom. Is it looking for a 5V or 12V signal?
  12. Correction- Pin 12 of the ECU is sending Vehicle Speed signal to Instrument Cluster.
  13. 1995 BMW M3 with G4X plug in ECU. I want to control Aux Fan with ECU and want to triple check with you before wiring up setup. The car supplies 12 volts to a temperature switch in radiator. When temperature is reached, the switch grounds out circuit and relay supplies power to fan. The BMW temperature switches alway fail leading to overheating and their settings are set from factory. I want ECU to control fan using control scheme in LINK ECU program and be able to adjust temperature startup. I have expansion loom. Key Question- Can I wire the 12V control voltage to DI7 and have the ECU “ground” out the circuit, close relay, and control the fan? I have a 1 speed fan so either red circle in diagram will work. I just don’t want to feed 12V in ECU and blow something up.
  14. 1995 BMW M3 with CX racing Turbo kit. BMW did not install clutch switch in 1995. 1996-1999,yes. 1995, no. Pin 73 on the ECU is sending signal to Speedometer but, I can not find a signal in PC Link software to cut off Launch Control after launch. Here is the wiring diagram for BMW E36 Wiring manual
  15. Found the normalized knock reading in the ECU. BMW S50 engine has 2 OEM knock sensors installed. While tuning/logging, the normalized readings appear very accurate. Normalized reading is “1” on scale. I have seen 4 or 5 on scale in single incidences under heavy load/throttle. Nothing sustained.
