  1. I connected to the ECU initially before shipment with a winows 7 machine to load a base map. I had no issues. Then shipped to customer. I'll recommend un-installing VTS and Usb drivers, then re-installing. I read a previous comment in another thread about actually deleting the VTS folder as well before re-install. Thanks! Scott
  2. I have a customer with a Vi-pec PNP ecu for a 3sgte. He tells me he is running windows 8 on his laptop, had connection with ECU for about an hour, and now it will not re-connect. He confirms there is power at the ECU and the engine will start and run. The connection cable is plugged in and no apparent physical problems. Has anyone seen this type of connection problem before? I have never even used win8 so i'm not sure what to recommend.
  3. Sorry, forgot to go back and check this thread. I'm not sure about the power holding and Fuel pump. Its not my car, and I didn't install the ECU, but from what know of Toyota's, the fuel pump is not triggered until you turn the key to start. The starter signal energizes the Circuit opening relay, and once the engine is running the FC signal from the stock ECU holds the CO relay closed "pump on". If the engine dies so does the FC signal and FP. I imagine the Vipec has the same wiring and logic. This car had a V88 with harness adapter, and looks like the fuel pump was driven off aux ign output 8.
  4. Did you miss a shift? Or downshift into the wrong gear? I'm not a WRX expert, but everything else looks pretty good. Scott
  5. Thanks guys! One little issue we ran into was a hiccup at part throttle accel. I finally tracked it down to tps calibration. The US ver. 2J has 2 or 3 vaccum throttle kickers. And with the engine off the kickers would let the throttle close farther than when the engine is idling. So I set the zero with engine idling, then shut it off the set full throttle. Once that was done the weird hesitations and idle issues disappeared. I am very unfamiliar with the 2J so this was all new to me. The base map my customer got with the V88 was really good from the start, SO I didn't really have a lot of tweaking to do once we figured out the TPS issue. We don't see 0c very often so I imagine I'll need to do some further tuning this winter if we get a cold snap. From dealing with other cars and other ECU's on E85, You absolutely have to have some kind of additional air on E85 for cold start. We just use higher idle under cold start, and about 50-35% cold start fuel enrichment that tapers off pretty quickly. I don't have the final map on this laptop, so I don't recall where we ended up on cold start enrichment values.
  6. Hey guys, this is my first post here, and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm part owner of ATS Racing, and we specialize in the second gen MR2. I tuned a couple of MR2's on V44 back when the Vi-pec was first released, and it was a great ECU, and pretty good software. A few weeks ago a 2J Supra (non-vvti) showed up with a v88 and the plug-in harness needing an E85 tune. So I downloaded the latest software and was shocked by how good it is. The Help file is amazing, and logging and ECU set-up is really straightforward. I'm anxious to try out the plug-in version for the MR2 now. I have been stuck in the stone ages lately "tuning" MR2's on the AEM Series 1, so the Vi-pec was a breath of fresh air. Thanks for reading and I hope to be more active here in the future.
