  1. Ok, that would explain that then! Thanks Simon. James
  2. On my ViPEC pnp, Mitsubishi GTO, I have no ISC so I wanted to use Aux 6 as a GP highside driver for a relay. Relay resistance is 73 ohms, which I assumed met the requirements for low load. However, on activation, Aux 6 pin does produce 13 V but the relay would not operate. I did try a couple of relays with the same result. I ended up having to mess around with wiring and use a low side driver which does work. Can anyone just put my mind at rest and tell me why it didn't work with the high side driver? I am thinking something to do with coil inductance? James
  3. I found the fault - bit embarrassing really - a school boy error! I had plugged the USB connector into the CAN connector on the board. USB lead is now correctly plugged in to the USB connector. GTO fired up and it still sounds awesome and I am very happy. Thank you very much for you and your colleagues prompt assistance. James
  4. Hi Simon I have now got my repaired ViPEC back and plugged in. I cannot connect to it with PC and ViPEC software will not detect ecu. I am using VTS 4.9.3. Do I have to upgrade firmware and use the latest version of VTS (I notice there was some CAN upgrade done to my ViPEC)? I would rather you advise me before I embark on a world of software misery! Thanks. Regards
  5. Hi Simon I have done that and the crank signal is getting back to the ecu as best I can measure. Also I mentioned earlier that the stock ecu fires up no issue - which rules out any wiring issues. I am pretty certain the ViPEC needs repair. If you agree I will arrange return to you. I really need to move this forward - I have spent two weeks plus chasing this fault. Thanks Jame
  6. Email sent with logs. Ecu stats were normal yesterday - well showing zero values on limits, one store, normal temp etc etc. James
  7. Hi Simon pcl attached along with three logs. I can't attach llg files (extension not allowed) and renaming extension to pcl doesn't work either. I can email if you let me have the address. First log showed triggers on cam and crank but no spark crank evident. Subsequent logs only showed cam trigger. I think I have logged everything. Let me know if you need further info. I appreciate your assistance greatly and look forward to your assessment. James
  8. Hi Simon Thanks for your reply. I am not sue what hold mode is or how to check it. All other parameters and values etc are displaying as plausible and functioning. Cam sensor is triggering, I get starter signal to ViPEC, voltage is good, spark works on test, injectors work on test, fuel pump works, MFI relay is functioning correctly. Crank sensor not registering a trigger. Reluctor trigger wheel correctly located and working. Crank sensor is new. Although I am pretty certain I plugged it in and did a swipe test before installation and it was ok. (I have done so many various test combinations that my head is overloaded on the test matix). Have tested harness to the nth degree and used an old connector to test connector interface. My ViPEC did initially loose all its statistical data - all counts etc went to zero. Then last time I looked at the stats they were all showing 63535 (or something similar). I also had a random screen message that said something along the lines of "only approved software can be used to tune this ecu". I have restored ecu factory defaults and reloaded my map with no change. A mouse ate one of my HT leads and I am thinking HT leakage increased to the point where it found its way back to the ECU. That's all I got. Running wise it was perfect. Parked up for a week. Fired up and ran like it was dropping cylinders for a few minutes (while I was trying to establish what was going on). Then basically died completely. I think I will return it to you guys in the absence of a brainwave on my part. Thanks James
  9. Hi Guys I have a V44 plugin on my Mitsubishi GTO (Eurospec UK, supplied and fitted), had it running issue free for the last 5 years. After much recent trouble shooting etc I have found my crank sensor is receiving its 5V signal from the ViPEC ecu. The crank sensor (new one) is correctly chopping the voltage on cranking. However the ViPEC is not recognising the voltage chop - trigger is showing nothing on cranking. As a result I get no crank spark etc. (ViPEC ignition test works). Stock ecu gives me crank spark etc. Question is does this fault make sense to you as a viable fault - ie is it possible for the crank sensor pin to provide the 5V but not recognise the voltage drop? No other faults on ecu and cam sensor triggers correctly etc etc. Do you have any approved repairers in the UK? Thank you James
  10. I have finally just the got the gauge to work. What I had to do was set the large division to 8 (not ten). I guess that sort of makes sense - just doesn't seem an immediately logical way of doing it. Re the comms issue I had. I did previously read though all the help files and that seemed to make reference to things I don't have - eg Intel Active R (I only have USB and not com ports). I have just read it through again and still find no reference to USB power management settings. Anyhow, as I mentioned before, VTS was working ok last time I tried. While I was looking through my netbook settings again just now I did find reference to remote working, which sounded similar to the Intel Active R, so I have disabled that as well. Cheers James
  11. I appear to have fixed the hanging "file opened...." message and my logging issues. I am not a computer expert so bear with me but this is what I did. Some of these may not be relevant:- In Windows Control Panel, Scheduled Tasks, were two googleupdatetask thingies - I deleted these. I remember that when I updated the vts software I firstly put google chrome onto my car netbook. I try not to use this netbook for anything else so had no issue deleting these. You can disable them but I just deleted them. I also set the USB root hub power setting so they were always on - ie unclicked the "allow the computer to turn them off..." I also changed the VTS connection preference setting from manual to auto. I think that is all I did. I can now use the VTS as before and log as before - the connection speed still shows between around 7 and 10 Hz but it appears to have all the data I need. So the only issue I currently have is with setting up dial gauges. It appears they only go pear shaped if the minimum number is negative? Cheers James
  12. Thanks - I will check connection speed etc. Gauge screenshots:- This gauge:- From this setup:- Whatever I do I cannot get it to scale correctly. The low red line puts itself to -11. What am I doing wrong? Again related to gauges is it possible to set up so a gauge will indicate the max and min values seen? This would help a lot and mean I don't to log most of the time. Edit - I just checked my connection. I have the green online and 250K box. Next to that I have the varying Hz number which seems to vary between 7 and 11 when logging. Changing log sample rate doesn't affect this number. My connectin is set to auto com. I changed the connection preference from manual to auto which made no difference to the Hz number. Should the Hz number be higher? If so how do I get it higher. I tried different USB ports with no change, tweeked cables no changed, unplugged the usb cable and my PC died and then rebooted. Thanks for your help. James
  13. With the new 4.9.3 system I now cannot get the logger to work correctly:- If I do a small two minute log all is good and I have data points at 10 Hz. If I do a longer log, e.g. 16 minutes, then all I get is data points every 2 minutes. So the log is completely pointless. If I export the file to csv there is a data scan every 10 Hz but the data only changes every 2 minutes. Can someone explain why this and how to get it to work correctly? I have to say that changing from the earlier vts to the latest has been the biggest headache for me - I so wish I hadn't bothered. Other things that don't work are gauge setup. For some reason it is impossible for me to get an analogue gauge that actually matches the gauge properties I set. Very bizarre. I also notice there are quite a few spelling mistakes in the menus (one example Display Mode - Log Anlyasis!). I digress but the main problem for me is the logging so I appreciate any guidance before my head explodes. Thanks James
  14. I had been using the old 4.5.1 VTS for a couple of years but recently upgraded to the latest version (4.9.3). I did the firmware upgrade at the same time. The new VTS seems to work slower when downloading a file to the Vipec ecu. However the main problem I have is:- download a file to ecu, then you get the "do you want to store" question, click yes and the question box hangs, click it again, then it then it goes away eventually, then I get the "file opened and downloaded successfully" message which will not go away. I can change tables etc behind it:- The only way to remove it is to close VTS and open again. Interestingly enough I just discovered if I do not save immediately after the download, ie click no, and then save with F4 all is well. I have a done a full VTS delete and reinstall with no change. How do I get the VTS back to working flawlessly as it did for me with the earlier version? Thanks for any assistance. James
