  1. I would stay away from ballast resistors on large low impedance injectors. You simply cut yourself short in the response time. FJO Racing Products and AEM make a nice peak-and-hold driver for systems that cannot support large low impedance injectors. With a proper setup, you should be able to run injector cycles down to 0.7 msec. I've encountered too many issues with resistor boxes to ever recommend one.
  2. Really? That's too bad. I thought the G2 and G3 had essentially the same hardware.
  3. I have been told the knock retard feature only works with the G4 firmware when connected to PCLink. Is this true? If so, I may wait to upgrade my G2 to G4 firmware. The G2 does what I need right now, but I would like to update to the G4 platform eventually.
  4. If you want to run large, low impedance injectors I recommend using an actual peak-and-hold driver. FJO Racing Products has a four channel unit for reasonable money. In my experience, low impedance injectors open significantly slower when used with balast resistors. On a small displacement engine, this can be an issue when it comes to idle tuning. In peak and hold format, low impedance injectors should open all the way down to .7 mSec.
  5. ...apparently are not so free anymore. You guys give up on the G2/G3 platform to focus on the G4 platform, even though the firmware seems to be backwards compatible, and now want to charge for updated firmware. What gives? I spent as much on my G2 three years ago with a 2m loom and a 5 bar MAP sensor as you pretty much are getting now for a G4 Extreme. Considering the time-value of money with a resonable MARR, that $2k I spent is worth a hell of a lot more than what you get now. It's not like I can go run 2.5 ohm injectors at 10 amp peak using my G2 without cooking the thing.
  6. Cool. Just nice to hear a little update to restore my faith. If it is as good as you sound like, it will be worth the wait. Also, don't mind the Hydra comment. I wouldn't really get one of those, just wanted to light a little fire under you guys' rear.
  7. Bump. Over two years and still waiting. I have been told, "It's being worked on" for those two years. If this is how it is going to be, I may have to unfortunately go with a Hydra in the future.
  8. Why is it so hard to get answers? The my Link Plus G2 has much higher rated output FET's than a Hydra, yet they can run down to 2 ohms. Looking at the layout, it has to be a cooling issue. Maybe I'll just spend the $150 on a peak-and-hold driver.
  9. I know that for my G2, at least 5 ohms is recommended for the injectors. The thing is, many low impedance high flow injectors (1200-1600cc) are 4.5 ohms, or lower. The output mosfets are rated at 23 amps for output, so I'm guessing that it is a cooling issue with the ECU. The rail they are mounted on isn't exactly connected the best with the aluminum base. I have 900cc high impedance injectors right now, which do satisfy my needs, but I was wondering if in the future if I could run some 4.5 ohm Bosch blues or something like that at 4.5 ohms with proper cooling, or maybe even adding a cooling fan to the case. Is there something I am missing?
  10. Nice. I guess I failed at seeing this, or I could probably read the manual a little better, lol. I do have a question or two though. I don't see a label on the y axis of the AUX table. Just wondering what input I'm actually using, since the three logic conditions are availible. Also, how much load can I put on, say aux 2? Is 5 ohms ok? Also, I guess I might be crossing my fingers here, but would 4.5 ohm injectors fly? I can get peak and hold injectors in 4.5 ohms, and it would be nice to be able to run them down the road without a peak and old driver. It's so hard to find anything over 900cc in a high impedance side-feed injector, and low impedance injectors are much easier to get a decent idle out of when you are running 1600cc units.
  11. I know you guys have a few things in the works such as the datalogging and the CL boost control. One thing that would be REALLY nice is if I could run a 3D General Purpose PWM output, indexed by everything that the fuel and ignition tables are. For instance, if I wanted to run the GT3782 VNT off the Powerstroke diesel, or if I wanted to run a more advanced water/methanol injection setup, or anyhting else that needs a 3D table to run correctly. I'm jeleous of my friend doing that with his Hydra.
  12. Bump? Do you not know, or just not care to answer?
