  1. This is what I suspected. So going on what youve said would I be able to get a single channel ignitor and run the trigger in parallel with the existing one and then take the output from each ignitor to thier individual coils? As far as im aware the ECU only supports 3 ignition channels. It is a V5 ECU
  2. Just realised that Ive got my terminology around the wrong way and Ive mixed up trailing and leading and I cant figure out how to edit my post. This is my first time dealing with one of these engines and who ever thought that having triangles inside ovals was a good idea is beyond me still trying to get my head around it all
  3. Hi All Im helping a mate with his 86 RX7 Savanna and Im a bit stumped with the way he has set up his coils, Ive got some theories on whats going on but Im not 100% sure Setup is as follows: -4x Bosch HEC-715 coils and a 3 channel Link Ignitor The Leadings are running off 1 channel each and the trailings are running off a single channel in parallel (pretty much wasted spark setup). The leadings are sparking fine and triggering the timing light as expected. The two trailings we were having problems getting spark with, we would always get a weak spark and it wouldnt trigger the timing light we are using. We changed to some hotter plugs and weve now got spark (we beleive from just listening to it when the hotter plugs are fitted and it runs alot better) but still not enough to trigger the timing light. When we pull the lead away from the plug a bit and let it arc across we get the timing light going. My thoughts on this are to get a coil that has 2 posts and a single winding or run 2x 6 volt coils in series, but trying to source either of these is a bit of a nightmare so we would like to utilize what we currently have. Can someone provide some insight to whats going on here?
  4. Thanks I will have a try at adapting one of the subaru ones I have floating around here to see if it will fit. Also where would I find a base map/tune for this? As I'm not too sure that the tune we currently have on it is the correct base, although we have done some short runs up and down the road and it is running ok and pulling well throughout the rev range, even idle seems ok.
  5. Hi all Im in the process of helping a mate with his 86 RX7 Savanna get his Link V5 wire in up and running, ready for tuning. After getting it firing properly (4 coils and 3 igniter channels isnt the easiest thing to make work) I was sitting in the car and noticed that the TPS settings were all out of whack It sits at 20 at closed throttle which i under stand to be correct but at barely 1/4 throttle its already peaked at 100. I reran the TPS setup a few times to no avail, but did eventually find the problem The TPS has a rod that slides in and out that is spring loaded, when the throttle is closed it pushes the rod in and when open the rod comes out. But the TPS rod isnt long enough to cover the entire range of the throttle, infact it only covers 1/4 of it. My question is will we need the TPS to cover the entire range of the throttle movement? (I assume we will as the ECU is currently thinking we have WOT when infact we have it around the cruise point). Im also guessing that this must be a common issue for these engines so is there an easy to fit alternative TPS that could be run off the throttle spindle? IE like the subaru ones?
  6. Hi all Ive recently installed a possum link into my V1 WRX wagon, more or less standard car, grey injectors, TD04 turbo, and the exhaust consists 3" mid and rear sections with a standard downpipe. The car runs beautifully when under load, but if trying to hold constant revs (say travelling at 50kph along a flat road in 3rd, 4th or 5th) it will loose power momentarially and then get it back once the revs have dropped a bit... I can replicate this in my driveway by opening the throttle a little bit and try to hold the revs at 2000rpm ish... but it will just sit there and fluctuate between 1500 and 2000 constantly. I called link yesterday and they suggested increasing the fuel master, doing this smoothed out the problem a bit but made the car run extremely rich so wasnt really driveable. Any ideas or suggestions??? If you want more info ask away Matt
