MAP sensor info off LS3 / Bosch 0 261 230 146

Hi

Help please

Wiring a LS3 up and it has as oem a Bosch Map sensor 0 261 230 146, this LS3 is going to be boosted......so I am trying to find out / figure out if the oem sensor is boost capable, before splashing out and getting a 3 bar external sensor, does anyone have a calibration / value for this existing sensor ?

google fu throws up other people asking this same question

thats good for 28Kpa boost, so no its not good for you. not sure nay factory NA car uses a  MAP sensor capable of reading much boost, let alone 2 Bar boost, it doesnt make any sense for them to sacrifice accuracy for increased range for no reason at all. it is kind of odd that the LS3 can even read positive pressure.

 

 

i thnk you googled the wrong part number, heaps of info if you google 12591290 you get the info. that is the GM part number, the other one  is the Bosch number.

28kpa above atmospheric not psi, 28kpa is approx 4psi.

you can still get positive pressure in a naturally aspirated engine depending on where the intake is and how fast you're driving. you can also get higher than 'atmospheric' pressure if you are below sea level or due to weather conditions so being able to read a small amount of positive pressure can be very useful.

thanks, yeah I was trying the bosch part code......

.6bar is 60 kpa....  Which is larger than 28...
