TylerB
Im having issues connecting my laptop to the ecu. Its a supercharged E36 S52 converted to OBD1. There's complete power in the harness at every wire up untill the ecu. I've tried multiple windows 10 laptops but had no luck connecting. I've Uninstalled and installed the software many times. Is this a common problem??
Adamw
If you pull the case off the ecu, is the green light on when ignition is on?
TylerB
The ecu didn't come in a case. It came just like this Just now, TylerB said: The ecu didn't come in a case. It came just like this No light on it either

It came just like this Of course, but you are meant to put it inside the factory ecu case. If there is no light shining then the ecu has no power. TylerB
Right, the ecu isn't getting power. But the harness is getting power all the way up to the ecu plug. So my thoughts are the harness is good, but the ecu is defective? How common is that? And there's not a light on the ecu at all to tell me if it has power
Adamw
The ECU's are tested for over 24hrs before shipping, continuously cycled between very high temp and sub zero. It is highly unlikely the ecu is faulty unless you have miswired it and fried something. But more likely just a wiring issue. The SMD LED is very small and hard to notice when it is not on, however it is bright and very noticeable when powered. What pins do you have 12V on and which pins have ground? Pin 54 is the main 12V supply and Pin 34 is the main power ground.
