LSU 4.9 question

The LSU 4.9 that I have from Ballenger has this bulky connector requiring a rather large hole through the firewall, In talking to BM, I was told this was for ecu's that can't do a free air calibration.    Did I buy the wrong O2 sensors?   Can I de pin and put the smaller standard LSU 4.9 connector on it and use it that way?   I'm not that experienced in the newer wideband sensors.

No, the one on the left is the standard LSU4.9 connector.  It has a calibration resistor is it that is unique to that specific sensor under that cover on the side so cant be changed.

I normally punch a hole about 24mm and the sensor will pass through if you just round the corners off the hex nut a little.
