Gtr_lee
Hi, Has anyone ever fitted the above to one of their builds? i am having trouble fitting the terminals/pins in to the connector. No matter which way i try and slide them in they just won’t go all the way in and click in to place here is a link to which connector it is.. https://en.forwardauto.ru/catalog/product_bosch_razem_datchika_davleniya_temperatury_77342/
Adamw
Have you got the blue/pink lock thing slid over to one side as per my pic below?
Gtr_lee
No i don’t think so, is this in the base of the connector where your arrow is?
Adamw
That whole blue cap slides sideways, you can see in my pic that the blue cap is no longer centred. This is the unlocked position, you can then push the terminals in and click it back into the centred/locked position
Gtr_lee
Ahhhhhh i see now! Thanks for the help! No one else i have spoken to could tell me how to do it!
Gtr_lee
Sorry @Adamw can i bother you with another question. At the same time i fitted the bosch sensor i also upgraded my IAT sensor to the following.. https://bofiracing.co.uk/engine-parts/sensors/intake-air-temperature-sensor-for-standalone-ecus/ I believe this is the same product dahtone racing and prp in Australia sell. in the link software am i right in using the hella 6PT 009 calibration? Thanks
Adamw
It looks similar to the Hella one but their quoted calibration is a bit different to ours. Not massively different but about 5deg or so. I would try the hella calibration first and if it looks similar to your coolant temp on a cold morning then I would just stick with the hella cal. If there is a differance then use a custom cal table.
Gtr_lee
It was reading the same as the coolant temp for most of the time and then was flickering about 1 degree out. i also tried using a Cal table just to see how that would read but ended up showing -40c for some reason. some of the points on the axis were different so i left them and then interpolated between the points i could accurately fill. what cal table should i of used? the data i got for the sensor was from the link i attached in the previous post
Gtr_lee
Took the car out for a drive and realised that the oil pressure was reading fine but the temperature is not right at all. Highest it got even after a good spirited drive was about 40c. Stock gauge was reading around 75-80c the cal is set as bosch NTC which I believe is correct so not sure what’s going on
plox
For the oil temp, this is the calibration settings I used (based on provided data) Tracks fairly well, around half the the engine coolant temp until coolant reaches temp. I'm a bit suspicious about the sensor placement as temp hasn't gone above 94C with spirited driving(ej20 with the sensor in the factory oil pressure bung). Or the factory cooler is better than I thought. I'm thinking I'll test with another temp sensor in the sump next time I do an oil change. Adamw
The Std Bosch NTC cal is correct for this sensor, you do not need to do a custom cal. What input do you have it connected to? Internal pull-up? Is the sensor tip close to the oil flow? plox
Gtr_lee
It’s connected to Temp3, I think the placement maybe the issue then as it’s not in the stock location on the rb26. I have it in a LMA remote T piece as I previously ran 2 sensors instead of 1. The bosch sensor has an adapter on it due to thread size which come with the haltech kit and does not fit in stock location so i just fitted it in the T. I may have to source another adapter and move it to the oil filter housing Even though i have the oil pressure working ok i thinj i have it on the wrong CAL. I believe it’s on the 1000kpa Ti sensor CAL. should i change this to another one?
Adamw
Is there oil continuously flowing through the tee past the sensor or is it a dead-end? If its a dead end that will be your problem. The 1000kpa TI cal is close but not quite right (will read about 40kpa high at max pressure). In G4X, choose the "Bosch 10Bar 0261230340" calibration. In G4+ use Cal 4,5 or 6 and set up like below:
Gtr_lee
No it’s a dead end. I will try a source a new adapter asap and get it back in the oil filter housing. Ok thanks adam will change oil pressure cal over and see how it goes. i did think it was reading slightly higher than my old gauge. thanks
Gtr_lee
Hi Adam, Thought i would go and check the temp of the IAT sensor as i forgot to look at the values when cold. looks like using the Hella 6pt cal is making it read 7c more than the coolant temp it is 1c from reading the same as the oil temp How do i go about making a cal table for this as i tried it before and was making it read -40c if i interpolate from -10c back to -40cinstead of using the numbers from the table given with the IAT it reads bang on the same as the oil temp with both at 27c coolant temp was reading around 21c thanks
