1UZ_Defender
Hi, I'm swapping my 06 defender with a 1UZ non VVTI and I want to use a Link w/ aftermarket Speedo (Probably GPS), RPM, Coolant Temp and Oil Temp. There needs to be one 100mm Speedo Gauge and the remaining 52mm What am I looking for when shopping for gauges? Any basic principles I need to know? Regarding how the gagues operate and on what voltages and resistance, etc. This is my first swap and I'm learning along the way. Cheers
Adamw
The only one that will likely be connected to the ecu is the tacho and all aftermarket ones that I have seen would be compatible.
1UZ_Defender
Thanks for the response. What about coolant temp? as I intend on going electric fan I’ll be inputting that into the ECU and then a gauge on its output as well. You know of any “go-to” brands? Adamw
The coolant temp gauge will usually have its own dedicated sensor - the ecu sensor will be dedicated to the ECU. The gauge will usually have a single wire sensor and will use a 12V pull-up where as the ecu will have a 2 wire sensor and only uses 5V pull-up.
