Pereird1217
This is probably a long shot, but has anyone been able to successfully change the hardware on the pnp units to allow for driving 8 injectors total? I have a 350z pnp, which only has the hardware support for 6 drivers. I would like to use this ecu for my vk swap, but want to have 8 drivers for cylinder trimming purposes. I would imagine that the hardware itself will be easy to duplicate as there are 6 other drivers to identify the hardware requirement, but I'm wondering which hardware output is connected to the software "7 and 8". The 350z firmware does not show anything as far as a pin location for the drivers. I'm not super savvy in this level of electronics, but a friend of mine is and can modify the board for me. I'm just trying to gather as much data as I can to streamline this process. Thanks guys!
Vaughan
I think you'll find it is a lot harder than you expect it to be and you will void your warranty. Also if you mismatch injector drives you may get differences in fuel delivery cylinder to cylinder which could cause all sorts of problems down the line. Use an Xtreme wire-in or run semi sequential or group injection.
Pereird1217
I dont doubt it'll require some engineering. Although, i know a guy that added 4 injector drivers to run 16 cylinders full sequential without issue. Given, he was the ecu manufacturer haha. I know it can be done, and probably fairly quickly. Just a matter of mapping i would think. I plan on running this with headers instrumented for individual cyl o2, so im not concerned if the added drivers yeild a small difference. I plan on trimming anyway due to the engine build combination. Im not concerned totally about warranty either as long as i can add these successfully. Im trying to offload the ecu to just get an xtreme wire in, but weighing my options here.
koracing
I'm sure there's more to it than what is shown in that thread - but that was the answer I got when exploring this topic a few years ago.
Pereird1217
I did see that and save the post haha. I looked around and couldnt see any more referencing the drivers.
Pereird1217
Koracing Were you able to figure anything out on it? Or just left it as is? You have any info on identifying the 7 and 8 drivers that have been repurposed? What output pins they were on the board?
koracing
I've been asked to not share this information as it's one of those "if you can't figure it out on your own, then you probably shouldn't be messing with it" type of situations. Pereird1217
Fair enough On your plug in did you have extra d60nf55l mosfets? Was the injector 7 and 8 logic actually terminated? I'm seeing that there is no PWM signal on any of the extra populated outputs on my ecu. I just flashed the base firmware and performed the injector test to view the pwm sweep on the available outputs. I did not register anything other than what was on the 1-6 pins. I only have the 6 mosfets, but I'll attempt to locate some type of signal when running the 7 and 8 test now that the board is out and i can trace somewhat easier. The circuit seems easy enough to replicate, I just need to determine the signal source. Drop me a hint haha!
