Manuel Posted May 3, 2024 Report Posted May 3, 2024 Hello community I have made some modifications to my BMW M50 Non Vanos Turbo engine. converted the intake manifold from stepper to E-Throttle. Other injectors from Siemens Deka to Bosch injectors. and converted to an Ati Super Dumper. I configured and calibrated the Bosch e-throttle. Injector values were changed. and the trigger offset was changed and tested with timing light at 0 degrees. Trigger Scope Looks good too I have been trying to start the motorcycle for a while. What I have noticed is that every time I abort the start-up process, the engine shows signs of life. This can also be seen in my log. maybe you have some tips on what else I could check greetings Manuel e-trottle1.pclr startfehler.llg Quote
Adamw Posted May 4, 2024 Report Posted May 4, 2024 What ignition coils do you have? Ignitors fitted if using factory coils?? Quote
Manuel Posted May 5, 2024 Author Report Posted May 5, 2024 I used NGK 48041 ignition coils. The Red VW coils Quote
Adamw Posted May 5, 2024 Report Posted May 5, 2024 It appears that you have all the basic necessities for life present in the log. There is fuel and spark being commanded and no cuts present. I would drop your trigger 2 arming threshold a little since your scope only shows about 0.6V. Are you sure the timing is correct? The offset for a non-vanos M50 is usually around 276 or -84. But yours is currently set to -328 which is normal only on the M50TU and M52/54. If you are sure the timing is correct, then I would also try the trigger offset at 32 just in case it is currently sparking at TDC on the exhaust stroke. Quote
Laminar Posted May 6, 2024 Report Posted May 6, 2024 What I have noticed is that every time I abort the start-up process, the engine shows signs of life. This often happens when the injectors or coils have a power source that is live in Run but not in Start. When you crank, the power is turned off, but as soon as you stop cranking they get power and try to fire. Did you modify any injector or coil wiring? Quote
Manuel Posted May 7, 2024 Author Report Posted May 7, 2024 Thank you for the tip I converted the crankshaft gear from non-vanos to vanos with ATI super dumper and the -328 degree offset. The engine now runs with a 32 degree offset. Thank you for the help. How can it be that the trigger offset shifts by 360 degrees? Quote
