veedub Posted June 5, 2024 Report Posted June 5, 2024 I have acquired an 80% finished mk3 golf gti 1.8t bam conversion using a standalone link monsoon. The mechaical parts of it is done aprt from a few water pipes and dodgy wiring left for me to try and get my head around. The one thing that i cannot find for the life of me on the tinterweb net is how you wire in the throttle position. I know you can get the link e throttle kits but I have a cable throttle. Can you use the oem throttle position using the pinouts on the 8 pin plug on the body ????? If not , how can i get around it without changing to e throttle ? I hope this makes sense. Quote
Adamw Posted June 5, 2024 Report Posted June 5, 2024 These throttle bodies have a DBW type motor in them for the idle control, g4+ doesnt have a control strategy to support that type of idle control motor, so you may need to manually fit a throttle stop or similar for it to idle, but I think you should still be able to use the throttle body and TPS as a normal cable throttle. The pic below is a random image I found searching google for "1.8T drive by cable pinout". Pin 7 is sensor ground, pin 4 is 5V, pin 5 is TPS main. Quote
veedub Posted July 15, 2024 Author Report Posted July 15, 2024 Brilliant thanks. Used those 3 pin outs and the tp works fine. Quote
