928sg Posted June 18, 2024 Report Posted June 18, 2024 I'm trying to use a GP setting on output 8 to provide a ground to the relay for my COP's. When I put the output to on (test) it's on all the time even when the ignition is off. I've checked to see if there is power backfeeding thru any of my outputs and have not found any evidence of this. When I turn the output to off, the ground to the relay goes off and stays off when the ignition is turned off. What GP settings should I use to turn this relay on anytime the ignition key is on, but go open circuit when the ignition is off? Quote
Adamw Posted June 18, 2024 Report Posted June 18, 2024 You will create a back feed if the 12V supply to the relay coil is live all the time. Any supply to an aux device must be supplied by an ignition switched source. One option would be to connect the other side of the relay coil to ground instead of 12V and set the aux output to highside drive mode. Quote
928sg Posted June 18, 2024 Author Report Posted June 18, 2024 I was trying to avoid cutting into the main bus in the main fuse panel but if I have to, I have to. Quote
Adamw Posted June 18, 2024 Report Posted June 18, 2024 You would effectively have the below scenario if the relay coil supply remains live with ign off. Current will flow through the aux flywheel diode and onto everything else that is connected to the 14V pin/rail. The only other option besides what I explained above would be to add another relay or small circuit that is only live when ign is on. Quote
