MGV101 Posted June 19, 2024 Report Posted June 19, 2024 Just wired in a Monsoon ECU for a JDM MR2 with a 3SGE Beams and selected 3SGE for the cam control mode. Seems to work great other than the actual cam angle will always be advanced 3-4 degrees more than the target. Other than that, the control is great, response is fast and angles are stable with no overshoot or oscillation. I am assuming the pre-set control is for the Altezza Beams engine and aside from the additional VVT on the exhaust, whether the the VVT control settings would be the same between the two variant of the engine. I could use custom control and set everything up manually but the aside from being consistently 3-4 degrees above target, the 3SGE control tracks really well. I cannot see what settings are used in the 3SGE pre-set so I will have to start from scratch if I use custom settings. My only worry is whether the 3 to 4 degrees difference will eventually trigger a VVT error causing VVT to be disabled. Quote

You dont need to change to a full custom mode, just set PID setup to custom, all the currently used settings will remain and then just increase the integral, I generally start by doubling the effect each time - so try 2 then 4, then 8, etc. Quote

I did not notice there was an additional PID Setup option when a pre-set mode was selected that can fine tune the existing settings. I always though it would either be the pre-set option or full custom. This makes sense and makes life so much easier, thank you! Quote
