Reapez77 Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 Hello, as stated in the title i have a rpm cut when i mash the gaspedal. It seems like some protection but i cannot see from what. I made a log file of the problem so maybe someone can figure out why the rpm cut. Car is an evo 7 with a Link G4 Ecu. Thanks in advance knock2.llg Quote
Adamw Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 The RPM limit is being activated due to a trigger error. Start with a triggerscope capture under similar conditions and we will see it there is any obvious cause in the scope. One reasonably common cause of trigger errors on Evo 7 is the cam sensor is quite prone to failure, so possibly something like that. Is it still running factory coils? Quote
Reapez77 Posted September 6, 2024 Author Report Posted September 6, 2024 Hello Adam, thanks for the fast reply, i will do a scope capture tonight. Im running on COP, standard ones from toyota. Maybe some extra info, had my timing belt replaced around the same time and I had put a new original mitsubishi crank sensor and trigger as preventive maintenance. Quote
Reapez77 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Report Posted September 7, 2024 Hello, i tried to make a trigger log file but i cannot have the cut to happen when the car is stationary. It only happens when i'm driving. Also i see that the signal is like a fraction of a second so i cannot try to log it while driving. is it possible to make the trigger file to last like a few seconds? I did make a file to test and added it as a copy. can you see if it's good? Greets Elvis Trigger Scope Log 2024-09-6 11;23;30 pm.llg Quote

It is the cam sensor that fails most regularly on the Evo 7+, since they are right beside the turbo, exhaust manifold, and hot water outlet they get a hard life, especially with aftermarket exhaust manifolds I have seen quite a few fail. Some of the Chinese fakes have a very poor driver in them and send high voltage spikes out of the trigger pin. Also are the spark plugs resistor type and are the coils grounded to the cylinder head (not manifold or cam cover)? Quote
