Use engine RPM for Cruise Control

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if there is a way to use engine RPM for cruise control speed input by utilizing math block. Something along the line of RPM/10. I am having a bit of a hard time getting speed input from the stock cruise control speed input that is sourced from the gauge cluster.

Im pretty sure the software would allow it, but its not something Im particularly keen on recommending when it is a potentially safety critical input.  I personally wouldnt consider it until all proper speed options had been exhausted.

What model car is it?

My car is a 1983 Toyota Celica Supra with a 2JZGE VVTI.

The stock CC has the speed signal coming from the dash. It is supposed to have a 4 pulse signal. I have the stock CC Speed signal coming into a DI pin. I remember the G4 PCLink software having a setting that I could select the type of incoming signal but I cannot find where to change the speed signal setting in the new G5 PCLink software.

In G4, you selected the input pin, then assigned the function to it. In G4X/G5, you find the function, then assign the pin to it.

So, go to:
Chassis and Body -> Speed Sources
and select any of the 4 corners, and then you can set the input pin, calibration (pulses per 100m) etc.

You can then assign this input as a "Driven Wheel Speed Source" and "Driving Wheel Speed Source" in the Chassis and Body -> Speed Sources -> Setup section.
