Jonny1436215430
Â Hi guys we are currently building up a BMW e30 race car with a M54 3.0 We are just about to start wiring everything up (have a link g4 to go with it) Has anyone come across any problems with the thermostat on this model? they have an electronic thermostat and not sure if this is going to be an issue with using an aftermarket ecu ? Scott
Hi Jonny, We do not have a specific ECU output for controlling an electronic thermostat. Do you know how the thermostat works? If it is simply a solenoid or valve you could just use a general purpose output and set it up to work off engine coolant temperature parameters. There is a Switch off timer that you can adjust also to make sure the solenoid does not turn on and off too quickly. Cheers, Scott.
Karim-Philip Antaki
Hello, Best way is to remove the electonic thermostat. Replace with a gutted thermostat housing and install a restrictor plate to slow down the flow of the coolant ! Cheers ! KPA
Ilovehorses
Or you could use this: http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/store/screen/prod/store_code/6134/product_code/M54CTPK.htm On a side note - are you using the Link to control variable Vanos on the M54?
