Matt Petersen
I have a Link two channel ignitor running my 1UZFE.I see that pin 5 should be a pink wire to feed a tach input. I don't have a pin in my plug in position 5. Is it possible to get a pin that I can connect to and fit to the plug?CheersMatt.
ashesman
If your ignitor is a new silver one then you can add that tacho wire. Contact your nearest Link dealer to get a terminal for the connector...
Matt Petersen
Unfortunately it's not a silver one, it's a black model. Are pins not available for these?CheersMatt.
ashesman
The old black ignitor did not have the tacho output wire, only the newer silver ones. Best use the ECU's tacho output signal.
Matt Petersen
Thanks, so is the ignitor wiring diagram that's online here for the newer model then? The tach I have is for a 4cyl model, will the ECU output have the correct number of pulses?Cheers
ashesman
Last time I did a tach on a 1UZFE it was a four cylinder one also. I justed used the coil negative signal from one coil as the tacho was a high level tacho (ie designed to run from coil negative). The pink wire they new ignitors have and the ECU tacho signal will not be correct for a four cylinder tacho. Matt Petersen
Thanks Ashley, will the ECU tach output be set for an 8cyl? I should be able to get the tach modded for the correct number of pulses.CheersMatt.
ashesman
tacho signal will have one pulse for every spark, so yeah, 8 cylinders. Sometimes it is possible to run the tacho from one of the ignition outputs, but not recommended unless you are certain that the tacho wont load down the ignition channel...
