Sanford Edinberry
Hi there, Please could you let me know what would be the correct setting to detect detonation on MY96 WRX STi? Many thanks, SanMan
Jurgen Biggelaar
That would be about 6Khz on an old KnockBlock. Jurgen
Sanford Edinberry
Hi Jurgen, On the Management Controller it give me the setting of 0-300 ... what should i set it too to detect detonation? Kind regards, SanMan
Simon
This a level setting you will need to give the motor run with no knock and set the level a suitable amount above this base noise level. It might take a bit of tweeking as the power levels increase with tuning. What you want is for it to be able to pick up knock but not so sensitive that it picks up background noise. Sanford Edinberry
Hi Simon, So if i put a detonation listener (a copper pipe on the intake connected to some mufflers via a plastic pipe) when I hear detonation set the level knock level lower than that? How is a knock link better? Many thanks, SanMan
Simon
I would suggest that using a KnockBlock with a very good set of headphones is the best tuning tool. Tuners are raving about this product and how good it is. It will amplify the engine noise so that you can detect even the slightest knock. I do stress the need for top quality headphones as these really make the difference.
