Daniel1436215406
I have a nissan silvia with a rb25det out of an R34!! the car used to use a wasted spark setup, which used a r32 igniter and 3 dual post commodore coil packs, i had isues with them so i want to go with an original R34 individual coilpack setup, However the R34 coilpacks need a positive triggering signal, and the link outputs are negative, How can i run this, ive been told that the link will just run this setup but it wont!!! How can a negative output signal be changed to a positive triggering signal??? is this possible to change using the link software or do i need to send the computer back to you guys?? ashesman
All Link ECU's (execpt for a few specialised Honda ECU's) use what you are calling a positive triggering signal. The signal is idle low, then starts dwell when it goes high. Stays high for the dwell period (usually a few ms) then goes low. Spark is fired on this falling edge. The ECU will be fine for your coils. Anyways, what ECU are you using?
Sabih Anwar
Hi Ashley, posting on behalf of Daniel. We are using a G1 Link Plus..
Daniel1436215406
so is it similar to an injector?? the drop bellow the supply voltage causes the trigger effect?? we first wired the coilpacks through an igniter to be safe, so it will be safe to wire straight to the coils from the link
ashesman
The coils must be wired through an igniter. Some coils have the igniter built into them... So in short, you must wire through one igniter. If you wire through two igniters, the signals will get inverted. Ignition pulses are the opposite to injection pulses. Injectors are grounded through the ECU to turn them on. Ignition pulses supply a positive voltage to turn the coils on (charge them).
