S54 and settings for 3 Wire ICV v88

Running into an issue with Idle Control Valve (ICV) setup on s54.

We are presented with two options in setup: 4 wire -or- 6 wire for the stepper motor. The ICV however is 3 wire.

I saw a reference to an oem modification fix here at this link but the attached file is missing. Appreciate any help, thanks.

This is one option, with this setup you just use one aux output:

the Bmw s54 uses aux1-4 on the Vanos (vvt) solenoids.

With the dual Vanos all aux 1-4 channels are used which then makes the need to use some external hardware to allow the stock solenoid to be used.

PDF attached is the equivalent of what is above.

Hi there,

I think we will need to do something similar on a S50b32 euro from a friend (dual vanos, so aux 1-2 can't be used for 3 wires). the way to do it still hasn't changed? (ecu G4+ xtrem)

or there is now a simpler way?

Yes, you will need to use the same trick with G4+, or change to a two wire idle valve.
