Guest |207|
Hey Ray When i start my car sometimes i get a loud backfire out the exaust, is that because i have too much fuel for startup? Cheers
rayhall
When does this happen. When you first turn the key on before you start to crank, or while cranking. Ray.
Guest |207|
it happens JUST as the car fires from cranking. So i turn the key, it cranks for about 2 or 3 seconds and just as the car fires, like on the first fire "BANG" out the exaust and then the engine is running. rayhall
Only problem I see is the large amount of ignition timing you have while cranking the engine. I have modified your map and sent it back. Give this a try. Ray.

rayhall
Yes unburnt fuel in the exhaust will do this. All the fuel table cells from 0 to 1000 rpm need to be tuned so they are not too rich.

You might want to reduce the "first crank enrich" as well. I've seen backfires on starting when this value is excessive. The motor takes several revolutions to clear it, then it lights what's in the exhaust. -Neel
