    More likely than not, guys who move over to a standalone trade off the dual VVTi in the M54 to a single VVTi on a iron block M52.

    I will load up the older firmware and give the settings a go and see how cam position detection tracks. It won't be a huge loss not having a advanced exhaust cam and won't be able to tune this setup on a dyno to properly get the best advances regardless.

    With the multitooth/missing and user defined VVT mode you are using you are only getting one position update from the camshaft every 720 degs (ie one tooth).  

    With the M52 mode it uses both the rising and falling edges of the cam wheels so it gets two updates.

    Well that certain made all the difference for the intake cam.

    Cam angle test now shows with 2 pulses a ~282 and ~640 angle, and intake cam postion is being calculated nicely.

    However now trying to move the exhaust cam just to prove out (as exh phasing does not have as much effect as intake), theres always a "missing pluse" error, and cam angle test only shows 1 value, regardless of number of test pulses.

    Any hints for the exhaust cam setup?

    It will be more a setup trial as a T25 on a 2.5L doesn't really need much mid range cam phasing to get it going. The long term goal is still to retain dual VVTi on a 3.0L and GT3586, so this will prove as a setup / debugging platform / base tune.

  3. Hi Guys!

    Recently patched in a Link G4+ Fury into a M54 engine. Most things running well now with a ball park road tune and transfer of maps from the BMW ECU.

    The engine is the later model with 2x Hall Effect CMP and 1x 60-2 CKP. I have configured my triggers with a Multi-tooth/Missing setup and is running well.

    Recently I have been playing around with the VVTi / Cam control and seeing how it behaves, and I am having some issues, which could be a combination of setup AND possiblly old/bad phasor seals. Trying to eliminate the former and that the VVT setup in the ECU is OK.

    For now, I am working on getting good control of the intake cam, however most settings see the CAM position move in 10 degreee jumps, casuing rather erratic changes in VE and the control loop struggles with such poor positional feedback. I have used quite aggressive P values just to get the system to show movement, so there definitely needs tuning once the setup / trigger questions are worked though.

    I have attached my map, as well as a quick log to show the issues. RPM lockout was rasied above redline after testing, so ignore the 8000RPM lockout :)
