I was thinking the risk of overheating was going to be lower with the single wire as well, so thank you for confirming!

I saw in the instructions the largest wire the superseal connector can accommodate is 16 AWG, so if I have a 10 AWG fuel pump wire, for example, is the recommendation to simply splice down to 2 16 AWG inputs for the 2 High Output pins in the the last couple inches before the connector?
