Guest |783|
Im having som prbolems getting the car to start with the ecu. Let me give you som info about the car and engine: 96 Wrx car with standard Wiring harness (ver1-2) 98 Sti engine Completely stock, with upgraded exhaust, filter, boost solenoid, WB, and IAT. The COP,s on the Wrx engine is transfered over to the new STI engine to make the ver 1-2 ecu fit, and the harness almost PNP. The only thing done to the harness is that the STI TPS sensor is connected to the harness. (Tps calibration done and works fine.) I bought the car as a project with the Sti engine mounted in the car, but not running. All of the harness and is inspected and connected by me. Timing belt position checked and ok. I get spark on all sylinders, with both cranking the engine and in test mode. Firing order checked. I have fuel on all cylinders. Trigger 1 and 2 Indicates ON with cranking engine. All wiring and connectors are tripple checked. No errors. All sensors, triggers, input/output setup is double checked. Start up procedure and check done. Engine cranks fine and compression on all cylinders. I have tried a fully working Map on another Impreza (borrowed from my tuner EF motor) No luck. It has spark and fuel, absolutely NO signs of firing at all. Different spark plugs tried, and cylinders dryed out of fuel in between. Have tried to start the engine with the Std Wrx ECU, but I dont get spark with the ECU. The car have a std. Immobilizer, but the chip in the key is out and its not working. I believe this is why I dont get spark with th std ecu. Is the Vi-pec plug-in ECU affected by the immmobilizer? The car is going to get a insurance approved Anti theft system once the car is running, So I dont bother going to a Subaru Shop to code a new key for the std immobilizer. There is two wires from the ecu harness who connects together (at the immobilizer unit)to give ignition to the engine. Problem is, I dont know witch ones... Have been scratcing my head for a long time now, So any input/help is greatly apprechiated!
rayhall
The 1997-98 cars had the cam and crank signals swapped if the car did or did not have an immobilizer. The plugin for the Ver3-4 (1997-98) has a jumper block to let you swap the signals. The Verizon 1-2 plugin does not have this. You would have to swap the wires in the connector if this is the problem. Ray.
Guest |783|
The ver 1-2 engine-wiring is connected to the ver 3-4 sensors on the engine. I believe the STI engine has a immobilizeser equipped. Will check this out, I have the Sti wiring lying around. I noticed when the engine cranked, trigger 1 comes on first, a half sec later trigger 2 comes on. So if I switch the trigger 1 and 2 signals on the ecu pinout i,m good? Guest |783|
Tried to swap the triggers with jumpers, but with no results. Both triggers went on at the same time, and no trigger faults. The entire wiring harness is from a 96 Ver 1-2, so I dont think this is the problem. Is the Vi-pec ecu connected to the factory immobilizer, or is it jumped inside the ecu since I,m having Spark? Any tips/ideas are welcome...
rayhall
Email me the map in the ECU so I can check the settings. [email protected] Ray.
rayhall
I have looked at the map and see nothing wrong. The Vipec ECU does not effect the immobilizer. The immobiliser is elsewhere in the car. I have read your posts again and I cannot see any mention of seeing RPM on the PC screen. Do this.... 1. Go online and press F2 to save the map to your harddrive. Give it a name. 2. Crank the engine. While doing this press F2 again. 3. Email me the map. Ray. Guest |783|
Finally found the reason for it not firing. It was a bad ground in the harness in to the igniter. -I did get spark -normal values in to igniter -normal values out to coils Not easy to find, but now I,m there 8-) Will update with some power figures once mapped!
