  1. Does the switch ouput signal switch on and off, or is it a variable output switch.

Normally a power steering switch is on/off style.

If it is an on/off, the correct way to set it up is using a digital input.

Select the input as PS Switch in the drop down tab for that DI.

If it outputs a voltage when the steering is moved then select High as your setting.

If it switches to ground when you move the steering then select LOW and pull up on . ( the DI has its own pull up circuit, you just have to turn it on).

Then go to Idle Speed Control Table and adjust you settings for PSteer Step.

  2. Is your 500R CDI a HF series.

If it is a HF series you can configure the output of the CDI to be Single Spark or Multi Spark Output by using the dwell table.

I normally run multi spark upto around 3000 RPM and then switch to Single fire from there to redline, depending on the application.

  3. The engine needs to be tuned using a Wide Band initially.

When tuning is complete, if you decide you wish to run a different A/F ratio at a given RPM/LOAD point,

then you change the Target Air Fuel table to the new desired A/F Ratio.

Back ground mathmatics adjusts the values automatically to change the fuel table to match the new Target A/F Ratio.

You do not need a WB A/F meter to be connected to achieve this as long as the engine was tuned correctly with a WB initially.

Does your engine run a single throttle body or multiple throttle bodies.

If you have multiple throttle setup you need to use TPS as your load axis, however i have used a vacuum balance plenum on multi throttle engines and used MAP as my axis.

I have tuned engines using MAP with very low vacuum readings without issues.

If you find using MAP or MGP as your load axis gives you issues, then use TPS as your load axis and MAP or MGP as your load axis on your Target A/F table.

  4. Are the camshaft oil control valves simple ON/OFF devices or are they PWM controlled devices.

Low side driven is the normal method for most switching and controlled outputs, if you wish to switch positive then you need to use a relay.

If the solenoids are PWM then you definately must run low side anyway as the PWM outputs are controlled via ground switching (low side).

Are you sure the solenoids run on 5 volts, i am not familiar with this engine so just checking.

As for your injector wiring, do you wish to run sequential or batch, group fire.

If sequential then use injector outputs 1through to 6 on connectors A and B.

Inj 1 to Inj output 1

    Inj 2 to Inj output 2 etc,etc.

The firing order is then setup in the Configuration Tab.

    Same for the Ignition Outputs.

Seqential use Ign outputs 1 through to 6.

Unless you wish to run Wasted Spark.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Hi all, I dont know why my post didnt show up, so i will try again. I have connected a MOTEC SDL3 to a customers car. I have downloaded the Motec Dash Config file from the LINK downloads site. I have put the dash config file into config page of MOTEC DASH MANAGER. I cant seem to make anything happen with it. I have setup the ECU for CANBUS and have connected my laptop to the SDL3. All is good. However i dont get anything to the dash from the ECU. Can anybody enlighten me on how to setup the LINK MOTEC DASH TEMPLATE please. Thanks Dave.
