The ID's are so linear, I've found I don't run secondary injection much anymore. I have 600hp 4 cylinders that idle great at 0.95 lambda on ID1000s. What kind of HP are you looking at?

This may be very true , but the PDM is limited to only 16 switched inputs which means I would need at least a pair of them to wire my car AND the V88 at $2500 USD a pop the ISIS will get it done for a lot less. The installation time is not an issue for me since its a one time install on my vehicle , I do not run a shop
My opinion is as someone who has used both systems extensively. At $1500 for the new RacePack Smartwire PDM, I think the Isis is going to be a dinosaur before too long.
If based on the information you've found, you think the Isis is the right thing for you, I say go for it! Let us know how it works for you.

I think the ISIS only bundle some of this:
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/56391.pdf
don't understand why the wiring should be faster with the ISIS ?
You can't program it so whats the diff to a relay from the wiring site of view?
Ah, someone who can express my cro-magnon thoughts in a more intelligent way. Yeah, what he said.
When ISIS came out I immediately contacted them and bought a system, and discussed becoming a dealer. I've worked on 3 ISIS installations since then, and every time I was frustrated with how it didn't really save any time. You can buy pre-built fuse/switch panels that are a whole lot cheaper, and while certainly not as clean or neat, does the job as well, and allows you to swap out relays/fuses/etc to make circuit changes.
When I ordered that first unit, they promised program-ability, CAN integration and a lot more. With that, it would make a lot of sense. but in 3 years, we haven't seen any of that materialize while we've seen PDM prices come down to the point where PDM + savings in labor is a better value.

soo many wires and relays and fuses and boxes ! It just cant be worse than that
No, its certainly nicer than that. It just that the price doesn't get you as much as I'd hope. Still a pain.

Maybe it isn't comparable to the MoTEC unit , but neither is its' price ! the base motec unit is around $1900AU !! I am more interested in knowing if it is an improvement over the OEM system , if it is I will be willing to give it a try.
I don't think its an improvement over many OEM systems.

Do you have any experience with RacePak's Smartwire? If I recall correctly, you are a fan of Motec's PDM's. I'm wondering how the RacePak compares price/performance wise.
My experience with RacePak's Smartwire is a string of frustrating emails to them asking for a unit to try and test. I am not asking one for free. In their email newsletters they say they're shipping them but apparently we're not big or important enough to get an email back from their staff.
With the new MOTEC switch panels, the PDMs are simply a no-brainer. I think they make them a better value than the Racepack. I cannot recommend the Racepak soley on the lack of response from them - if this is how hard it is to buy, what is their customer service like?

The dimensions given are 6.5"x7"x2" , it is a bit on the large side but this wouldnt be a problem for me since they would be replacing a couple fuse+relay boxes of similar dimensions but how exactly were you dissapointed ?how was the installation , programming and functionality of the unit/s?
Yes, but the quality of the wire isn't great, its not programmable and it still has fuses. Its not comparable in any way, shape or form to a PDM. At first it looks like a good alternative to a fuse box, but in every installation by the time we were done we all asked ourselves "well what did that really get us?"
I'm not saying some people won't find them useful, but at the end of the day it feels like a fuse box without fuses, with a bit of extra polish to it.

I like the price of thr ISIS unit and the fsct that it is expandable!
I got one and was very disappointed. I had 2 more we installed with a customer and found them to be bulky and not nearly as neat as you'd think.

What's new Simon?

We've done some S52s with great success. Its fairly easy to do the harnessing and everything else.

Thats sweet, well done.
What sort of power are you getting from the Hemi.
We were seeing about 380 at the rear wheels, but this car has a terrible intake setup that is pulling hot air from right above the headers! I would think closer to 400 is possible.

We just completed a Vi-PEC V88 plug & play kit for Dodge 6.1L HEMI motors. Our adapter plugs into the stock ECU harness and uses all the stock sensors and E-Throttle with no mods. We also drive the electronic alternator. Great for resto-mods and swaps!
-
We now have custom coil adapters that allow people to use these stick coils without any modifications to the valve covers! We sell them with the coils, contact me for pricing as I'm still working out details.
Thanks,
Neel

Mazda 4 cylinder wasted spark coils work well, as do BMW E46 coils, S62 coils and a variety of ND stick coils.
-
We've actually done 4 of these with Vi-PEC with a variety of ignition coils. We've done the stock crank trigger as well as 60-2's.

We also ran a Vi-PEC V44 on American Racing Legend Dan Gurney's personal "Alligator" motorcycle. The V44 had no problem handling the high-compression 700cc single.

We've updated this Dinan BMW-Powered Picchio SR2 Prototype with a Vi-PEC V88. This car is now a vintage racer, and we updated it to modern engine management using a custom mil-spec adapter harness so the original wiring is untouched!

We did this beautiful E30 BMW M3 with a Vi-PEC V44. This car features custom mil-spec wiring harnesses and a coil-on-plug conversion as well, all done by Apex Speed Technology. Drivability is absolutely flawless, despite the 2.5L, individual throttle body motor with an aggressive cam and nearly 300 NA horsepower!

Apex Speed Technology is proud to announce our plug & play kit for Porsche 968's. This car is a Turbo conversion using all factory wiring harnesses. The Vi-PEC V88 controls fully sequential fuel & spark, plus closed-loop knock control, boost, A/C compressor, IAC, all stock dash functions (including check engine light) and fan control with factory levels of drivability. The kit plugs directly into the stock ECU connector and takes minutes to install! See more of it and our other projects on our facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Apex-Speed-Tech/109569965801

Jimmy,
I agree with Ray 100%. In practice, I have seen improved drivability, response and fuel consumption. Also, if you have individual EGTs or Lambdas, you can tune individual cylinder mixtures which often results in power improvements and more robust operation.

Do you have the fuel pump relay controlled directly by Vipec?
If you do not, I would absolutely recommend you do for two reasons:
1. This can prevent a fire in the result of an accident. Having seen a customer's car burn to the ground on its first test because a fuel line was left loose and the ECU did not control the fuel relay, I can assure you this is a real threat.
2. In case an injector sticks open, this will prevent hydro-locking your motor and bending a connecting rod. Again, I saw this happen when a chafed harness resulted in an injector sticking open and filling a motor with fuel. This was even worse because it was an ALMS P2 prototype where the mechanic left the fuel pump switch in the "service" position so even though the ECU controlled the pumps it was overridden....

could it be too much fuel? i noticed when it backfired this time it was cracking a little longer then usual?
You might want to reduce the "first crank enrich" as well. I've seen backfires on starting when this value is excessive. The motor takes several revolutions to clear it, then it lights what's in the exhaust.

hey ray, is it possible to control a non oem ICV with the V44 for the V5/V5 wrx ecu
The V44 is very flexible when it comes to IAC. It can handle a stepper motor, 2 wire or 3 wire PWM IAC - which covers just about everything out there. Personally, I'm a fan of 3-wire Bosch IACs, like you'll find on an E46 BMW M3. Excellent response time and flow.

Any ideas off the top of your heads?
Just to confirm you have no trigger issues, try disconnecting the coils and cranking the motor, leaving one coil and plug connector to watch with a timing light. If you don't get trigger errors under cranking and the light is steady, it may simply be a post-start fueling issue.

Call Tony @ T1 Race Development - I'm not a rotary guy but i've been so impressed with the linearity of the T1 injectors you may get away with only 1 bank.
