  1. Gents,

Recently been playing with boost per gear setting. Driving around normally the ecu knows exactly what gear im in, I followed the instructions, and it works perfect, I've ramped up the duty to achieve target boost in 1st gear, (10%) the rest of the gears have zero correction.

The problem between wot gears 1 to 2, the ecu is still applying the extra duty half way through gear 2 causing a 1.5psi spike in 2nd. Im assuming, I have to either up or lower the setting in gear 1 to bring it back a little? see log of a 1-2 shift.

Any tips would be great, can experiment next time I take the car out.

  2. Just an update to follow this up for future searches, with lots of testing and trying different things, default settings are best.

The car goes full rich, then immediately full lean when you back off the throttle under boost looking at gauge itself.

What is actually happening on the log between shifts, the wideband is picking it up with a slight latency delay making it look like its lean back on throttle, but in reality, its actually happening earlier, its also evident with the rich dip on the log after tp back off.

Picture of the log isn't really enough. Need the tune file and the log file.
It's possible the tune has an aggressive lift off fuel cut?

hey mate, thanks for your thoughts, overrun fuel cut is off though.

I would tune more for feel than lambda reading unless it's causing knock or something else detrimental.  There will be a happy state that feels the best and usually that means it's running the best in that state.

Thanks for your reply, I think in this case it may be the way to go. The lean spike is really only for 200ms. I know lean spikes like this can be normal with flat foot shift due to ign cut, but not sure if these are normal so to speak without it.

Default accel clamp settings shift best, as mentioned above, ive managed to get it to read richer but can 100% feel a rich bog between all gears which makes it shift like crap.

  4. Hi,

Mapping my mates car essentially the same mods as mine. After reviewing the logs, ive noticed theres a lean spike between shifts when slamming gears. Below is 1-2 example, but all gears do it. can see it hits 17afr once 100% TP is back, 11.6psi boost at that moment.

Car shifts fine without hesitation, wideband sensor is brand new.

Ive played with accel enrichment, minor changes do nothing for the spike, with major changes managed to get it to show 13.5 14afr at same point but now it bogs between shifts can feel it doesn't like it, guessing its better to just ignore it and go by how it feels?

Also tried changing cells on the fuel map it runs over before and at that stage by upwards of 25% with little to no change.

attached pic of log if anyone has any input ? thankyou

  5. Makes sense at 5000rpm when the l/c is active, but what about idle every day use, ive got my launch control set to Always on, so it basically my closed loop lamdba at idle is disabled until the car sees 5km/h (disarming set speed), so theres no way around this? I may have to wire a switch and only turn on the launch control when needed?

I agree that the idle ign table is back to front.  But the fuel set up looks wrong all over too - Its never going to idle well at 1.2lambda.

    • The injector size is set to 980cc for fuel 1, it is set to 600cc for fuel 2.  They should flow less with ethanol but that looks like a pretty extreme difference.
    • The idle VE is 22% in fuel table 1, it is 63% at the same point in fuel table 2.
    • The multi fuel density and temp coefficient appears to be set for E100 but the stoich ratio is set for about E85.
    • The fuel pressure sensor calibration is wrong.  Fuel pressure also doesnt increase linearly with MGP, probably due to the same issue.
    • The min effective PW is set to 0.99ms, this is unlikely correct and will prevent you from achieving the correct lambda when running petrol.  More typical value would be 0.2ms.
    • The injector deadtime of 0.478ms at 14V is pretty unusual, not necessarily wrong but I would be doing some tests to confirm it is right.
    • Not related to the current issue, but the boost control solenoid on Ign 7 isn't going to work well unless you have fitted your own freewheeling diode.  If not I would suggest moving that to a proper aux output which has freewheeling built in.

I noticed most of this and plenty more, I dont think that map is the one off car, guessing its a tune used to show his idle settings only??

  7. I had the same problem years ago, the dealer wasn’t around I called link and they sorted me out no problem.

lately Simon has helped me a heap over chat off the website, couldn’t be happier.

    hopefully your issue gets sorted

  8. Hi guys,

Recently added a link g4+ to my car, been sitting in my cupboard for years, amazing ecu getting to the stage the car is almost mapped to my satisfaction. The help files have been amazing and made tuning very easy.

I added a CANchecked 52mm can gauge and everything appears to be matched perfect to gauges on laptop PCLINK, but the knock readings scale appears to be out.

PC link for example is reading 10-20 at idle, 450 peak reading on a wot, but the CANchecked gauge is reading 50-60 idle 1500 peak. Can this be sorted in the software somehow ?

    Thanks
