What is the best way to remove the solder filled screw that holds the old ecu board in place with out damaging it?????

I tried several methods the other day when I swapping the boards over to the Vipec. I ended up heating a screw driver up with a blow touch until it was hot and then

melting the solder in the screw crosshead and on the board, then slowly worked the screw loose. There are some small components and tracks very close to these screws. Is this the correct way to do it???? Coz I still managed to damage one corner of the old board. Don't know if the old board still works, I was more interested in getting the Vipec in and up and running!!!! :D

Not an easy thing to do if you do not want to damage the original ECU in anyway. If you do not damage all the ground points under the screw heads the ECU will still be okay.

I use a good de-soldering machine to remove the solder from the screw cross heads. Then with a very hot soldering iron heat the head of the screws, until I see the solder melt, then quickly put the screwdriver in the slots and undo them.

Ray.
